Interior/Exterior Project Aero Wing 2
Project Aero Wing 2
As we're finishing up the Ram Intake project (limited production is being considered), JS and I are considering moving to the rear and address the aerodynamics of the OEM wings. The S wing is primarily a drag reducing device and the Aero wing is mildly effective in providing downforce. In the spirit of the Ram Intake, we want to exploit the aesthetic strengths of the factory Aero spoiler and take it to the next logical step...make it produce usable/adjustable downforce
Without a sketch to present, I'll do some hand waving...It will be nearly indisquishable from the Aero except that it will be another 1"-1.5" longer and have a stronger up-lift near the trailing end. The rear facing edge will have an approximately 3/4" flat surface raked at 70 degree angle. Although the wing may or may not be CF, it will have a an adjustable CF blade that will be mounted to this trailing flat surface. It will have multiple slots to corresponde with mounting bolts that will allow up/down adjustment of this blade to either increase/decrease downforce. Can you picture this?
Here's the catch...we're looking for one standard Cooper spoiler to use as a core base for prototype mock-up. This person will receive one finished wing at material cost (probably around $100). Again, it's too soon to consider production. Only the doner, myself and JS are guarenteed one in the near future. If you have a standard Cooper (not S) spoiler lying around and am interested in this project, please PM me and be first in line

The reason we have a difficult time considering production is precisely because it could end up costing us money
*blows the dust aside...*
I'd be interested in this I think. I love the ideas your hand waving created in my mind, plus the fact of exclusivity. However, I have a tiny crack in my spoiler - would that cause too much of a problem??
Or have you guys found one already.....

We're making great progress with this concept. JS is going to lay up a fiberglass prototype for field testing (probably by some hot MINI jockey at the track
). We may also include CFD testing if 3D modeling can be achieved. This Aerofoil will be adjustable for drag/down pressure and attached to factory mounting locations
