put aero grill on my 4 day old car yesterday!

it didn't give me a good feeling in my stomach, especially when i made a bobble and nicked my bumper ... i hate myself for that but i think some touch up paint will fix it.. all said and done i am not sure it was worth it! well here are the pics.

before

after

here are the sides, notice how the lower grill doesn't fit snug on both sides, any theories on this?? also notice the scratch i made on the right side ..

well there it is! i did not use spray paint i used this nifty stuff i found at ace hardware called con-tact, a sort of vinyl sticker type stuff, cost $1.50 for a 75 ft roll i also did not remove the louvers i shaved them down, this makes it possible to put the original grill back on. to secure the lower grill i left all the tabs in place made holes for them in the bumper then i used clear RTV to secure the tabs on the other side. for trimming the lower grill i used this drill bit on a 9.6V drill, i did not use a dremel and this with this bit it really took no time at all to trim the plastic.

Hey Man mine came out a lot worse! My dogs were playing very close to me as I used the Dremel to cut out the lower grill and bump! One of my pups caused a slip of the arm and I took a nice 1/4 " chunk out of my bumper. Not a fun thing to have happen during mod time. I like the look of the pepper with the areo grills, looks great !

I also did my PW/B MCS JCW car yesterday too (as well as a friend's DS/W MCS. Mine looks good to as I also had the Chrome Package. Oddly enough, I nicked my cover too, however I got mine along the edge and it is almost covered by the middle grill.

I plan a dab of touch up paint.

Looks great! I think Pepper white needs the aero grill. Also, even perfectly centered, I think they all have that gap on the ends. I know mine does.

*****, I would love to see any more pics that you might have... where to sand, how you put the tape on... anything would help...

Thanks

I've had my grille waiting for installation for more than a month.
My MCS is jet black so I was thinking to paint the border trim so it doesnt look so cheap.
what do you guys think of this idea?
**Only the outer trim no paint on the mesh**

I Got My Aero_grill Too

Hey, I think your pepper wht looks greeat with the Aero Grill. I actually Installed mine on my BLK MCS last weekend.wil post photos later. In my case for the lower grill which is the more difficult... I cut out all the tabs, buff out about 1/4in. all around the back to make it fit more snuggle and filled in the entire back with super strong double-sided tape. I used one layer of tape on bumper and then held the grilled on place. I was amazed on how good the tape holds the grilled..Now, I did this b/c I did not want to make any holes or touch the bumper at all and I want to be able to use the old grill if I want to. I will post pictures once I trim some excess tape I have showing trough the small gap btw the grill and bumper.. I feel really comfortable with my approach but only time will tell if the tape is going to hold the grill for a long time. i m happy with the look of the car thought.
