Smoked Side Repeaters (side markers)

Ok I have done a bit of research but I can't exactly find what I am looking for... I am looking for smoked side repeater lens. Only ones I have found are the crystal...the really clear ones, I want the OEM style ones. I found the crystal ones at Moss Mini and at Out motoring. Are these only style we can get? or am i missing something?

OEM on the right crystal smoked out on left....

I got these on ebay - I don't know if they're exactly what you're looking for, but I like them. They are darker than they look in the ebay pic, and even a bit darker than in my pic below. Reasonably priced, and shipping wasn't bad at all considering they came from England.

Those are not dark enough I like the ones Moss sells because they match the black vent covers on the MC. YThat fits my MINI's color scheme better.

I've got the ones from Moss installed as well. It was part of my interior mod (yes, I know it's exterior) project, but for some reason I didn't put any pics of it in my online gallery. Will do so when I get home. You can see it in the boot/bonnet & lightbar pics, but none of them are really close enough to see.

I think a lot of people just buy the tinting spray from an auto parts shop and create their own.

If you look at the lenses in the first post, on the right, you can see they're kind of bubble shaped on the inside. Those are the same on the stock S, and so tinting the inside would probably look horrid and ghettofabulous, while tinting the outside would probably look equally as bad over time.

If the lenes were smooth on the inside, it would probably work.

yea I like the stock lens but dont like the bright white on a JB/JB mini so the ones from ebay are kinda the best of both worlds and for $12.47 can you really beat that price? especially since moss is almost $30

I love the look of smoked lenses, I'm just too worried that they wouldn't look good with my color combo. But I always check them out on other MINIs!

Mossmini ones. The first set I got from them leaked. I had them replaced with no questions asked.

I was happy with my ebay ones because I really wasn't going for the "blacked out" look. I just didn't like having little orange bubbles on the side of my indi blue car.

Hope they work out for you.

Anyone have a close-up pick of a lens that's been sprayed? I'm interested in seeing the final quality. And do you spray the inside or outside?

Smoked Lenses

I am going to do the smoked side lenses, especially after seeing such great examples of what they look like. I was also wondering if anyone knows if smoked taillights are legal in California. I'm not getting my hopes up as we are the land of regulation, but if anyone can help me regarding the legal issues, I would be very happy. The guys at MossMini don't know either.
