Got my shorty antenna from Alta about 3 weeks ago, before I picked up my MINI. The installation took a matter of seconds, and my motoring advisor did it for me right there on the showroom floor. She was impressed with it's "stubbiness" and agreed that it removed the "remote control look" from the car.

The radio reception in unchanged. As a matter of fact it may have actually improved the reception a bit. I seem to be able to receive a few different stations that the other car's radio doesn't receive.

It was well worth the $30 bucks, if for the looks alone.

I agree. I've noticed no difference in reception, and the little stub looks much better than the stock antenna.

the alta antenna is really cool how short it is. The only thing im worried about is the reception though. I do not want a drop off in reception. how does it compare in reception to the one at wwww.mossmini.com, cuz that one says it is a direct replacement, even though the one at alta is a lot cooler looking.

I haven't noticed any drop off in signal for FM stations. I never use AM, but Alta says they have reports of better signal with the shorty. I guess I should post some pictures like I promised I would.

My first purchase was the Alta antenna. I had not even thought of changing it untill i saw it in person. You don't realize how much better the car looks with there antenna then the stock one. Absolutly NO loss of reception. I don't know about better but in no way has my reception been degraded.

Just placed my order for the Alta antenna also. It's surprising how little things like this make a large difference on the vehicle.

You know this does really make a difference in the look of the car. Much more appropriate I think. Also have no noticed any appreciable difference in the radio reception verses the stock antenna.

Mine also took about 10 days to come in the mail once ordered.

Well worth the cash IMHO.

I had a little incident with my garage door a couple of weeks ago, and it sheared off my antenna base, cracking a piece under the cup. The cup was scuffed, but not damaged, and the mast was fine. I had FM but not AM reception.

After a visit to the dealer, both parts and service led me to conclude that removing the headliner and replacing the antenna receptor under the roof was more than I needed to risk. It would be at least an hour of labor and they had never done the repair before. . I repaired it myself with some crazy glue, tested fine for both am and fm reception.

So I rewarded myself with the purchase of the Honda S2000 mast, for $20. Great reception, and at 6", I figure I deserve no less.

why not test out the Honda S2000 mast?

I have not noticed any degradation in reception since changing out from the standard MINI mast to the Honda S2000

good luck

lbboarderh2o- I'm not sure it's your antenna where the reception is concerned, depending on the signals and the area you live in, of course. I can take mine off and still get decent reception. Granted, I'm listening primarily to FM. Was you reception w/ the stock antenna that much better? Trade them back and find out.

I've been using the Alta for a month now with no degradation of reception, across a wide swathe of New England.

Send it back for a replacement. I have not seen any other complaints on this or any of the other Forums that I read. You were unlucky and got a bad antenna.
