Somebody backed into Big Blue!

Some #$%#@ in a minivan was too busy yelling at her kids to pay attention to what she was doing and backed into the front of my MCS. There was a big SCHWACK which sounded terrible but the only damage appears to be a cracked license plate holder.

Anybody have the part number for a replacement or know of a better way to attach the front plate? The People's Republic of Maryland still requires a front plate and will quickly ticket and deviants.....

you could get mine if you're nearby

I'm in Laurel. Dealers should have plenty, though.

Thanks for the offer. I'm looking for the piece the plate and frame mount to on the bumper, not the frame. This is a black plastic rectangle that appears to have a couple of clips that (used to at least) connect into the lower part of the grill and into the bumper. Not sure that was clear from the original post.

I'm a PA resident, so I don't use ANY of the pieces my dealership gave me. My front bumper is pristine, I believe I have ALL the parts you'll need. Are you saying you've broken some internal portion of the bumper?

Cheers,
Matthew Z.

Here's a photo to help explain. I can only see the top connectors (one of which is toast) so I'm not sure if I can just pull it straight off.

Hey gnhovis:

Today is your lucky day!

It turns out I have a couple of brand new front license plate brackets laying around, so let me know if you want one of them for FREE

Here in Florida we are not required to have front license plates, hence I put them away when I get my MINIs because I never use them for anything.

Free? That's one of my favorite words (especially if it's followed by beer....) I've sent you a PM.

I posted a week or so ago that some kind gentleman managed to make contact with the back bumper of Zippy, but, of course, failed to stop and tell us.

It happened in a car park of a small deli, while we were grabbing a sandwich.

Zippy is an '05 MCSC in black, so the bumper cover has the location points for the park assist.
My local body shop, who I have used for everything from minor bumps and scrapes to one major rear end crash my wife was involved in, and who do great work, have ordered the rear bumper cover from the local dealer, Bill Jacobs Mini in Naperville, Illinois. It so happens that the body shop is right next door to the dealer.

We are being told that the cover, which has now been on order for two weeks, is "Out of Stock in Germany" (their words not mine), and I can expect to wait at least another 2 - 3 weeks...al this after two weeks have already passed.

It appears that the supplier of this item "has been experiencing problems" (again, their words not mine), and so I will have been waiting for a $266.00 piece of plastic for 5 weeks if it even arrives when they say!

Zippy is still driveable, but it just irks me that he is less that perfect with creases in the rear cover.

It just seems strange to me that there are no rear MCSC with Park Assist Bumper Covers available anywhere in the US, or so I am told, and that they are out of stock in Germany! I guess if this is true, the production lines for MCSC's has stopped in Oxford.....NOT!!!!

Can anyone out there help? Does anyone know of a dealer who has one lying around, or anyone have one taking up space in their garage. (I am not sure if the Aerokit cover is available for Park Assist equipped cars, but if anyone has installed such an Aerokit and has the old cover I would love to hear from you!

Hoping for help....No chance from Bill Jacobs Mini!

Thanks,
Carl

I am sorry if I put this into the wrong thread! Maybe I should have started a new thread.
Apologies.
Can anyone help?

Thanks a ton C4! I posted a problem, he had the part I needed and wasn't using, and now I'm as good as new without the 80 mile round-trip to the dealer! (Now, had it been 80 miles of twistys, I might have gone anyway and put it on there....)

New and improved pic:
