iPod in glove compartment

I have the iPod adaptor for my 05 MC. I am wondering with the temperature controlled glove box...sometimes cold with A.C... will it hurt the iPod to store it in the glove box with temperature changes? Thanks

Mine's been in there with the vent shut for months in the Florida heat. It doesn't seem to mind at all.

Oh - you do know the vent in the glovebox can be turned on or off right?

My iPod has been in there for summer heat with the vent off (to the point where the iPod was quite warm to the touch) and with the a/c blasting (to the point where the iPod is very cold to the touch). No problems so far.

I have the kit too, and usually remove the iPod from the car when I'm parking for long periods during warm weather... Remember, the iPod is a hard drive so cooler is always better. Heat is a bad thing.

Glad to hear no one's had a 'fried iPod', but just because you've been lucky in the past, doesn't mean it can't happen. Temps in the glovebox on a hot day can be over 120 degress...

I play it safe an take it with me into the office.

Apple says:

Environmental requirements
  • Operating temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
  • Non operating temperature: -4° to 113° F (-20° to 45° C)
So yeah if you want to be safer remove it. It's been well over 120 in my car almost every afternoon when I get off work, no issues, fires right up, so I'll keep doin what I'm doin, it's not worth the hassle to worry about it for me. I consider it a permanent part of the car for the most part

Just got mine installed two days ago and I love it. Now do you guys figured out how to fully control it from the steering wheel?
I only use it in random most of the times...I don’t mind but I was wondering if the driver can have more control over it.
PS: I know it came we a booklet but wanted to give a try and see if you guys had any quick tips on hand.
Thank you,

The booklet says it all. All you can do is track up, down, fast forward or back, volume up,down. Random is turned on or off by the headunit.
