Rattling while driving....

When im driving I will hear this rattling on the passenger side. I do not believe that this is the radio cause it still happens the radio is off/turned down. It sounds like it is coming from up by the sunroof. Has any one else noticed this in there car?

if you have a whalen, pop it off, wield it like a nice piece of rock, and just beat the little bastid into submission. but don't let your finger get caught, cause that hurts.

and after the rattling gets worse due to the pounding, swear and scream, and then take it to the dealership for the umpteenth time.

despite it all, i still love the little bastid.

I've noticed on my MINI when its cold outside the sunroof rattles. So if its been cold lately around where you live it might also be your sunroof. But thats if its from up above. So just trying pushing on the sunroof alittle like on the glass kinda but not to hard and see if it stops. Good Luck

My wife's 03 MCS rattles (particularly when it is cold) and it is the top piece of plastic in the front of the sunroof just below the glass. I've heard that dealers insert padding or velcro. I'll try this some time before I take to a dealer and let you know.

Another thing to check is the defroster vents on top of the dash. Mine rattles when it's cold out. OR sometimes, if you have something in the cup holders that rattle, the acoustics make it sound as if it's coming from above.

My 05 rattled on the way home from the dealer. When I asked they said that happens in Mini's. Well, I figured that a car with 12 miles on it should be tight, so they took the car for a day and did somthing to it, not sure what, but the rattle is gone - from there at least. It now rattles from the drivers side windshield pillar - not too bad, I may just live with it - or I may have them fix that to - just not sure yet.

I have an '03 MCS and fortunately have not been plagued with all the rattles that everyone else talks about save one and its an easy fix. The rear seatbelt clips can bang against the plastic bolsterson the sides of the car. Simply slide them up or down to get them out of the way.
