Hood scoop with larger opening?

Does anyone have any actual measurements of the different aftermarket hood scoops to verify if they have a larger opening compared to the stock scoop? Since I have an AEM intake installed, I'd be interested in replacing the scoop if it could actually deliver a bit more air to the filter.

I dont believe that there is a huge difference between stock scoop and all the other aftermarket/bigger. But yes it will be some minimal improvement.
Yes you will get more air but dont forget the air you got its not only from the hood since stock cars dont use scoop at all . So the main air you get is from the OEM tubing coming from the front of your grill.

I understand what you’re saying, but the AEM intake uses the factory inlet tube and the hood scoop. Just seeing if there is any measurable increase in flow through the hood scoop with an aftermarket scoop.

Something like the Leapworks scoop or those "Notch" style hood scoops like Outmotoring sells are the only ones I can think of that are significantly larger. But if you pop off the stock hood scoop you'll see the opening in the metal of the hood itself is pretty restrictive. You could probably pop out the grille in the stock hood scoop and cut away some of the metal in the hood and see more of a difference than changing out the scoop for an aftermarket one.

I know the metal opening isn't that big, but a larger scoop opening would increase the pressure inside the duct. The pressure in the duct is related to the frontal area of the opening. If I can get a larger scoop opening face, then, in theory, I should see better flow through the scoop.

I do like the looks of the Leap scoop, but I've been hesitant to pull the trigger mainly due to the cost. If I can justify an actual performance increase, it makes my feel better about the decision. Maybe I'll try one of the Ebay scoops...

when i got my clubby it has a chrome hood scoop that was cracked so i bought one of the VTX Style Carbon Fiber scoops off ebay. I was surprised that it was indeed made of dry carbon fiber (I was convinced it'd be wrapped or painted for effect) and the opening was much bigger than the stock opening, i didn't measure though sorry. it is a very aggressive style scoop just a heads up. As you know I also have the aem kit and with the hood open I can see right through the ram air.

The one nice thing about the scoop being carbon fiber though is it'll never warp from the engine heat

Yup and i got what you are saying too.
I know the scoops actually i have the M7 Vortex which is pretty much the same as ebay VTX and they stole the VTX from vortex.
However besides i dont have any measurement i 'm saying that the difference will be minimal between the stock scoop+aem and the M7 scoop+Aem.
Cheers friend
