Magnetic bonnet stripes

Does anyone here have any experience with the magnetic bonnet stripes?

I have had mine for 3 months. I like em. My problem is I take them off to wash "BUD" and want to leave them off for a few days--but then he looks "bare"--I put them back on. I strongly recommend using a few coats of Zaino prior to putting on. Another hint--go by a local sign shop--they can make whatever you want--a lot cheaper than some of the prices I have seen listed on the Web. I may get some painted on. The vinyl--well it is vinyl My .05. Nick

My main worry about magnetic Bonnet stripes is that the backing material may have a tendency to cause "Ghosting" damage to the clearcoat (Exarcebated by the heat in the sheetmetal). Has anyone used magnetic stripes that won't have this problem??

I really like the idea otherwise as I wouldn't want to have permanent stripes on the car at all times.

I have read that they tend to fly off at highway speeds. I am thinking about ordering a pair for my to-be '05, but the image seems pretty funny...car approaches warp speed, vision streches, stripes fly off....

Funny image. Equally funny image of intrepid mini owner on the highway trying to recover those stripes....oops...less funny image of said owner in ER after unsuccessfull attempt.

I'm also a bit worried of the possibility of scratches. Would have to be maticulate before applying them. I'll probably just be forced to make a decision between white or black. Have white on order, but am having trouble committing. Think the black would go better with the chrome exterior option.

Damn!!! Choice is hard.

I think it would look pretty awesome with your strips flying off. it's sort of like you're going so fast not even your paint can stay on your car

although I don't think anyone would attempt to retrieve them if they were lost on highway.

Depending on how much I paid, I'm sure I'd give it a try.

If I'm able to speed that fast, the roads are probably pretty empty, so then I'd have a good chance to get them without getting killed.

Of course, if it was rush hour, I'd give up and leave em.

I have a set in black that i used and liked. I liked them so much that I did the stripes in more permanent vinyl. if you would like to buy my solid black set, PM me.

Well,
I still can't absolutely decide on which set of stripes, although I'm leaning back towards white, but I did call my MA this afternoon and added on the MFSW (since so many folks have been raving about it, and I'm spending so much already, what's another 250$).

I saw a really nicely put together jetta today. Deep metalic blue with clear rear lights and a set of beautifully blinged out chrome giardinello rims. MMMMMMM. Chrome goes so well with deep metalic blue. Was damn near enough to get me to change the body color I have ordered.

If I don't get this car soon, I'm gonna end up ordering a second one just to get all the configurations I want.

I bought my original boot stripes from cooperflags.com, and I have had them on for about a year now and they still look great however they were not as I expected. I bought the standard boot stripe with pinstripes. But the pinstripe goes all the way around the entire decal so it completely frames the decal. Need less to say it doesn't match the factory stripe. I'm sure nobody else in the world would notice the difference but I could see it and that's all that matters. The weather is getting warm again so I bought some new ones from Aestheticreations, we shall see how that goes.
