Personally, unless you've already changed out your brake pads, I wouldn't bother. The way the stock pads shed dust you'd never be able to tell that they were painted...

I did however see a CR MCS with CA tags headed east on the PA Turnpike (I-70/I-76) a few weeks ago with chrome wheels. That looked very sharp.

Curious as to why you want to paint winter wheels gold. It's winter. They always going to be covered with road dirt and salt, slush and snow, and who knows what else. It's hard enough to keep wheels clean during the snow season. Depending on the winter you deal with where you are, I see it kinda pointless, unless you wanna wash your wheels wherever you go to show them off. If you want to see a MINI with gold wheels, I recall that MINI-Madness' website has pics of one with gold wheels.
Cheers,

Bronze would be cool but has dark and light shades.
Here is an example-

Check out the other colors

Even though it is winter, it still is nice to have unique wheels.
Leaving them dirty is a shame (crime )
Besides the brake dust will ruin the finish in short order.

I'm seriously thinking of painting my 17" s-lite wheels black. I saw it on a black MCS and it looked real slick. I figured it would match the black trim on my CR MCS.

Black s-lites would look GREAT. I know I've see a picture somewhere, now if I could only find it.

I'm interested in painting my s-lites flat black, too. Anyone have any idea how much this would cost or how much is involved in doing this? I want to do it so the paint is durable and looks good.

I just love the look of black wheels.

I don't know about cost, but you want to go with a process called "powder coating." It results in a more durable finish than painting. You should be able to find a shop to give you a price.

I know of one other NAM user, dminiero, that powder coated his wheels, so you might be able to find the thread he started by searching.

On another topic, those gold wheels look great with BRG.

Not S-Lites - but the same wheels I use for my winter tires (the race tires come off next month to be replaced again by snows). These are a set of old (and relatively heavy) 15x7 TSW EVO wheels that I bead blasted and spray painted myself. Paint is good 'ole cheap Duplicolor from my FLAPS. It's been on there through two winters and a season of autocross and track days, and still looks decent.

I just called a place and they said it would be about $150 to have them painted.

Thanks for the pic! I'm definitely going to have it done.

Flik has a 15 inch Rota look-a-like that is black. Not sure on the wheel price, but a package price with Azenis is $499. Thats cheaper than 7-holes. And there're light too at 12lbs.

Watch out for all those that want to paint or powercoat wheels. The quality is not always there if you have a low price to do it. Always check out the work and look at some samples of jobs done. Inspect closely. You'll get what you pay for. I've even seen chromed stock wheels that don't hold up and get corroded in about a year of use.

Once you do decide to refinish your wheels you must keep the brake dust off your wheels or the finish will risk being ruined.
