Velcro & Glovebox

The glovebox on my 04 MCS will positivly not stay closed for longer than 15 minutes at a time. I have been considering removing the two rubber bumpers on the glovebox door and putting two velcro strips across the top. Has anyone tried velcro before? I really do not want to return to the dealer as it will be two trips there.......One to tell me they need to order a new glove box and another to install it. Any info on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated!

I have an 04 MCS too and the problem with my glove box is not the latch. It's just the automatic dumping of the contents which occurs when I open it. What an idiotic design!

I think if you call the dealer and explain the problem, they will pre-order the replacement parts for you. Better to get it fixed correctly than mess around with ad hoc fixes.

Even when you get it fixed, though, it'll still be a pain...

Do you have a glovebox organizer? Contents would be flying all over my glovebox with out it.

I agree...handle all you can w/ the dealer by phone. IMO, velcro might solve some problems but create others. Best to fix it right.

(yeah, I should talk...I still have felt wrapped around my rear seat latches to stop a rattle. I HAVE brought is up to my service advisor, though, so a correct fix is on the way.............after 1.5 years!!!!!!
