Blasphemy at it's finest but I am serious here.. Would it be possible to take out some of the GP stuff and put in a rear seat??? or is there no hardware to mount the seat to??? ever been done? I want a GP but sometimes the kids need a ride!

It could be done but will take you a little time. The biggest issue is the mounting nuts normally welded in the body at the factory for the center rear seat belt buckles are not there. So you would have to weld them in, or cut out that section and weld in the part with the mounting nuts. You also may have to cut off the mounting brackets for the rear strut brace. Otherwise from what I remember the rest should bolt in.

I have a couple wrecks you could get all the parts you need from, we can even cut the section with the rear center seat belt mount out for you.

LOL - great idea.

But seriously, I'd check with your insurance agent about the liability issues involved with carrying kids around in a modified car like that. Buy a second Mini, you know you want to have two!

Its allot of work and can be done, I know a couple GP2's that have done it, you would have to source the seats and the panels, and those mounts. Good luck.

Here is a GP2 that did what you wanted. It was for sale last month.

Saw that pretty cool.

When the GP2 mule car was racing around before production , I poked my head in and it had the rear seats in alcantara package. The window were blacked out so you could not see it.

RANT COMING!!!

Why do people buy the wrong car!!! Why not just buy a none GP, maybe a JCW. The JCW is basically the same car..without the alloy trailing arms and the intercooler.

GP's are so rare and hard to find, that drilling holes and taking the interior apart will only devalue the car substantially!!! PLEASE LEAVE THESE CARS AS OEM AS POSSIBLE.. Gen 1's are great cars to collect and enjoy. We don't need 1 less example when there is a comparable alternative.

It's not blasphemy, this is how I was able to get my rear GP interior. Since I was able to put a GP rear interior into our 02, putting rear seats in a GP wouldn't really be a problem. You would just need to get all the parts to do it and it is completely reversible. If your anywhere near SoCal, I have all the parts you need.
