Tires f56

Has anyone replaced the tires on the F56 Cooper S? I am looking to replace min with 215/40/17. Wondering if anyone has had experience with this.

No experience of the size you mention, but after a week I removed the run flats from mine and went with 205/40/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports and I've never looked back!

I have the adaptive suspension and the 215 do not fit. I am returning them. They rub the front struts.

I have an F56 Justa without adaptive suspension and with the stock 17x7 Cosmo wheels. I put on a set os Dunlop Dirrezza Star Specs size 215/40 R17. They fit with about 1/8" clearance between tire and front strut. I suspect a taller tire might rub.

I sure do enjoy the improved handling!

Ditto on the Michelin Pilot's; replaced my OEM 15" Continental Summer (just'a Cooper so no run-flats w/spare) with these All Weather's from Tire Rack, super coordination by them with local Tire Kingdom for a great deal!

OEM's still had 5-10,000 miles life left, but was starting on an 8,000 mile cross country.

Much better handling, ride and less road noise.

Tire Rack gets the job done!

Just a hair taller. As are mine. With two people in mine I just barely rub the top of the inner liner under full compression.

And that's with stock dampers. As such, those running coilovers with altered suspension stroke end points won't be able to run such a tall tire.

He didn't mention Coils but I would think that's common sense since I am lowered on NM springs that if you went lower you would rub more....

I have DDC suspension not planning on changing the coils. Looks like I have a lot of room, look at all the wheel well gap?

JD, love your car and what you've done...Do you have spacers behind those wheels? I figured the offset difference from stock at 54 to the wheels at 45, pushing the wheels 9mm closer to the fender edge. Does a 45mm offset wheel get you flush to the fender? I just realized you're also running 225's, that will also make a difference...

Ty...no spacers, and very close to flush.

I have 215's in both summer and winters. But that sounds like an odd size.
Don't you mean 215/45/17 or 215/40/18" They don't rub but the fronts are close 10mm or 3/8".

215/40-17 has a smaller diameter than either of these sizes or stock 205/45-17 ... and will introduce more wheel gap and more risk of wheel damage from pot holes.

still undecided. Looking at 205/50-17 vs. 215/45-17 stock shocks. I have DDC, will it rub??

As I stated above. I have been running 215/45/17's on my MCS with DDC without incident. Only close on the front but clear and I'm around lots of snow and ice.
