R56 Phone mount - Cravenspeed the best?

Looking to mount an iPhone up near the wheel/speedo in our 2013 R56 to use with navigation apps.

The three that I see most people using are:

1) Cravenspeed X Mount ($100. Pricey, but seems to be the business)

2) Kuda ($65, looks to be a PITA to install, still needs phone mount)

3) CD slot mount thing (not interested)

- - - - - - - - -

Is there something else out there that works well? I have searched but I am not getting a lot of results.

I will pay for the Cravenspeed if that is the ONE, but damn it is not cheap!

Thanks!

Jac

I like my mountek (CD slot). It uses a magnet so there is no fiddling with a bracket. I like the kuda a lot, but $$$!

I have the Cravenspeed mount for my Scan Gauge II. I've had it for about one year. It's great, after install have not had to touch it even once.

Does free shipping on the CravenSpeed one help? Use the code BFFS2013, ends tomorrow.

+1 For Craven Speed. Their product is pricey but it is designed and made by Americans here in the good ole' USA.

Great people and great parts!

+1 for Craven Speed. I've had mine for years and hung 3 different phones and a GPS from it. Even mounted a camera on it using RAM Mounts.

I love my CravenSpeed mount! I have the X-Mount on one side and GPS mount on the other side. It is a quality product and has held up well. I bought mine used but after having it I would gladly pay the price for another one.

I am on the fence for this also. I looked at the tach - and taking it out seems like it requires tiny hands or something fancier than a simple torx driver. I got a 2014 MCS R58 - is it different and will the Flexpod fit?

How do you deal with the cable from your phone with the craven speed mount to the aux input? If I ever get the Kuda mount, I'll run wires behind the dash, but THIS is the primary reason I have a CD slot mount over the other options.

I use the Y cable that came with the car and I don't want to have a headphone cable sticking out the top of my iPhone 4S. When I upgrade to my next phone, the plug will be on the bottom and won't bother my OCD, but what have you all done about this? Or do you not use the aux input?

I use my stock y cable and then a simple 30 pin extension cable I got from Craven Speed at the Dragon (that they installed for me) under the knee panel and it pops out right next to the tach where my 0.2m 30pin to lightning cable connects and folds over the arm of the mount to plug into the bottom of my phone to charge it.

I think the best solution is a tune2air BT adapter. Then you do not have to worry about running wires. (unless you need to charge)

Do you send music through the cable?

Here is a quick pic I took with my phone. It is normally mounted in the upper left. I have an ibolt mount. I used a garmin ball mount on both sizes for the top, one for the gps and one for the rear of the ibolt mount. The lower right is just a small piece of 1/2" metal I cut and drilled to mount the V1 display. I also have a mute button for the V1 ran to the shifter ****. That way I don't have to take my hand off the shifter to mute a false alarm.

I used the Mountek CD mount for a while. I had to shave off some of the metal so it would fit into the CD slot. I didn't care for the cramped look of the Mountek and how it got in the way of some of the switches. I now use the Craven Speed Fixie mount for my Iphone 4S. It works very well and doesn't get in the way of your view.

I got the iBolt xProDock for my Galaxy S4 and can't get sound thru to the stereo. Have the Harmon Kardon in my 2011 R57, any suggestions? I tested it before going to all the expense and hassle of installing w/ the Craven speed mount, but that was my plan..... my Garmin also mounts on the ball as you show. Which model Craven Speed mount(s) did you use. I was going to use a single mount and change out as needed, but I like your double mount.... looks good.

Definitely the Cravenspeed. The cleanest overall look and comes with the wires to mount another hidden outlet to charge the phone. And the cable can be lead behind the dash to the tach.
