How to remove chrome on rear tailligts?

I hate the chrome on my rear tail lights but I'm not going to pay $350 for tails. Has anyone done the "Joey Mod" on an R56 tails? Mine is a 13' GP
Thanks
Mario

I started to attempt it but you would half to cut the lights apart to get inside them the lights will melt before the glue gives

The mini Blackline tails are real nice. Don't know if they are worth it to you. But I love them.

I sprayed mine with window tint to hide the chrome and give me a tinted tail look at the same time.

I'm sure it can't be harder than the Joey headlight mod. Someone on here must have done it

Taillights do not open with heat, no Joey mod to be performed, I can show you the one I destroyed trying every heating method I could to get it open, dremel or cutting tool of your choice or the black line is the only way of getting in that taillight I have found. If you take the task on get a spare taillight for that side.

My headlights I did first and ended up destroying a taillight using all the tricks from VW's and the MINI Joey mods I had done to previous cars was very simple but the Taillights on this car are hell.

Thank you for your response, you might have saved me from $1000 experiment and going crazy. So is $350 the cheapest out there?

350 is the cheapest I've seen just the lights unfortunately I've been hunting overseas for a cheaper price but no luck yet, Way Motor Works is one of the few places just selling the lights out of the kit.
