Black out or body color?

Hi guys! Hope I'm posting this in the right forum. :P Anyways!

I've got my lovely little base 09 Cooper, Basil. He's getting ready to get a major makeover. Right now he's Oxygen Blue solid with a Union Jack roof, mirror caps and white bonnet stripes.

I want to go a completely different route.

Now, I know I want to have black accents. I'm getting my roof decal swapped out, but I'm not entirely sure for what. I'm thinking that new Coupe design, with the Union Jack in the rear, as I absolutely LOVE that. For those who haven't seen it, here you go:

Of course, I'd want the colors adjusted to better suit Oxygen Blue. I did my own little sketch of what Basil would look like if I were to do this:

I'm going to be swapping out my rims for anthracite/black/gunmetal/whatever whenever I can find some I like and can afford them. For now, the cheesy Cooper rims will do. Now as you can see in the sketch I did of Basil, I was thinking of blacking out the chrome. If I were to go that route I'd have to black out the headlights as well. I also don't know how the Cooper grill would look blacked out - thinking of swapping that out for something different.

This is what Basil looks like now:

So, for the tl;dr story, what would look better on Oxygen Blue with the design I've chosen? Blacked out chrome, or body color? Maybe body color on front and blacked out on back? Hmmmm.

Thanks for your input! :D

I think body color looks really good. Blacked out headlight rings on cars that aren't black look like raccoon eyes.

I vote for body color, including the wheel arches and side skirt.

DITTO! Body color looks much richer and cleaner than blacked out accents. Matching wheel arches and rocker panels add so much to a Mini that you will think you have a completely new car.

We ran into (not literally.. :P) an Oxygen Blue not too long ago that had body color arches/skirts. It looked nice. I wish I would've gotten a photo!

I like the blacked out look personally, but I wasn't sure how it'd look with my shade of blue. I guess body color would look better, huh? Haha! :D

As for the "lower" comment: I plan on getting some lowering springs and a rear sway bar as far as mods go, but I don't want to get too low (the roads out here are pretty vicious). I'm gonna wait until at least the summer, gonna get the sway bar first and then possibly the springs sometime later. Any recommendations on that?

I like the look you've selected with the large British flag splashed across the rear quarter. That coupe looks great in red, white and blue! I went with 17" replica's of those JCW R113 18" rims. Wonderful look for just 4 hundy a set.

You can always black vinyl the headlight rings to see if you like it. If not just take it back off. May look okay with the grays and blacks in the planned flag (hard to tell without seeing it done).

PS: Matching color wheel arches and rocker panels will make the car look lower to the ground also.

Body color all the way. Blacking anything out anymore is just so played out.
