Brey-Krause is again looking for a development car to use to make a mounting system for large driving and rally lights. Apparently there is no satisfactory mounting system out there, we hope to change that

If you are interested please contact me

Thanks!

The stock rally mounts work just fine haven't had a problem with them. So when you say there isn't anything satisfactory.... i think your mistaken.

Unless your mounting some monster rally lights like 10-12 inches

I've talked to a number of people and sellers who are dissatisfied with them. The idea was proposed to me by the owner of Helix Minisports, who agrees that there is no good way to put additional lights on the front of a Mini. I don't intend to bash anyone's product, but apparently the existing mounts are very flimsy, to the point that the lights can break filaments from moving around so much.

If you have personal experience either way I'd love to hear it, as long as I don't step outside forum guidelines...

I've already had one OEM rally light go out and be repaired due to the shakiness of the mount. Gotta be careful closing the bonnet, the left hand light does rattle a bit under stress. My car is an '02 build, perhaps the later ones are sturdier....

OEM mounts are junk. I bought a set for my HELLA FF1000s and they're worthless. If i could live without my car for a week, I'd be down there quicker than you could type "Brey-Krause"... but that took me a while to spell correctly so maybe thats a bad example.

I have four rally lights, 2 installed in november. and 2 from the dealer. Never gone out, and we attend car shows, and are constantly closing and opening the hood.

I'll chime in for Brey-Krause. Joe's been great to work with. I lent my MCS for development of their harness bar and seat brackets:

Thanks guys! I've proposed the idea but my boss is still wary, as he has personally had some bad experiences with web advertising in the past (I'm not knocking this site, it's a great one, but I can't blame him for having reservations)

Good luck making these mounts. If you are lucky you can pull a "Mini Fini" and your new products make it on as standard OEM equipment from BMW.

I know I am not the only one that has commented on the "unrobustness" of the mount. No slamming the hood here. In fact, it's funny that Helix was mentioned here, because they comment on my lights almost every time I go down there....

We're still looking for a car. Come on people! If you act now I'll throw in a fortune cookie I just found on my desk (the fortune is still inside)

Oh, if only I lived closer to Philadelphia. Still, I'd be interested when you do make the brackets, are you contemplating a bumper or air dam mount?
