There are many different mounting pods designed specifically for MINI, but most of them are quite costly. I decided to experiment with a less expensive alternative, Auto Meter mounting pods at $12 each. They worked out perfectly for MINIs. The pods allow tilting and angling of the gauges for optimum viewing.

Notice that the illumination of the aux gauges matches with MINI's orange red.

E-pods from
MINI Madness and Mini Mania

Alta mounting pods from Outmotoring

Your new set-up looks great...especially when you compare pricing with the other sets.

I used the Autometer mounting cups and came up with this home made mount:

Either Summit Racing or Jegs have Autometer gauges. Check out their web sites.

I bought the gauges from Summit Racing. They carry a wide range of Auto Meter gauges.

Please, are these electric or mechanical? I think I've heard that most people are using 2 1/16 mechanical boost guages and electric oil. Is this correct?

Thanks.

Are there any how-to's on mounting the gauge senders?Does the oil pressure mount on the filter cover? Where do you mount the boost sensor? Thanks for the help.

I've considered making and selling these. I need to work out some more details for the next generation. It will be very similar to this one. I haven't had the time lately to devote to it, but I should in the next few weeks. I also need to get a new powder coat gun so I can put a durable finish on them. I'll keep everyone updated if you're interested.

Thanks,
Nyle

davecsumini,

That setup looks great! I'm sure you'll sell lots of them if you decide to make them and the price is much lower than what's already out there.

Ditto on the nav. I can send dementia..er dimensions or might suggest a single sided yoke that can be mounted left or right.

Nice job on the fabrication, very elegant install.

What color and location wire do you use to hook up the gauge lights? Thanks for the help.

The grey/pink wire from wire harness that goes to the tach is the closest place to get power for gauge light. This will allow the light to dim like the fatory dash lights.

davecsumini,
Which wire did you use for the keyed power source? Last night I got the intercooler out of the way and installed tee on the nylon line going to the fuel presure reg. I hope to have the boost gage finished today. Where did you hook up hte oil pressure sender? I can see how to fit up to the filter housing but can't find the factory oil pressure sender location.
