Cravenspeed License Plate Mount

Here are a couple of shots of the Cravenspeed license plate mount on a Countryman. There are straight on images on their web site; I wanted to show the way the mount makes the license plate stick out. As you can see, it does not follow the line of the bumper, which makes it look very awkward. I'm going to end up using the factory mount on the bumper and get rid of the Cravenspeed mount.

Thanks for the pics! I was really considering this mount due to the fact that it doesn't mount dead center, and cover part of the drive/fog light port!

I've got the go mini go version with an offset bracket. Seems to follow the bumper lines better. Can post photo if requested.

I have the Cravenspeed and had to bend it a little.
Not so bad IMO.

+1 go the go mini go mount and offset bracket. Much better bumper clearance as well.

I'd like to see a pic of that one if the OP doesn't mind the hi-jack!

Sorry for the delay. Might not be the easiest thing to see, but here's some shots.

It looks like it will rub on your bumper. That can't be good thing!

Just noticed this as well. In all positions, it will rub if you try to rotate it. Pretty lame too because the website says this:

By using the tow hook, the plate is also easily removable for track days and shows; it takes only 5 minutes to install the first time and after that the entire plate can be rotated around for quick removal. That means if you ever need the tow hook in an emergency the Platypus will not cause you any trouble.
No way you can do that with the CM without scratching your bumper :( Emailed cravenspeed to see what they say..

I don't know about that picture, but my CravenSpeed LPH didn't even come close to touching the bumper cover! There are a number of adjustment holes in which the stalk mounts. I used the one toward the center of the plate and there was at least an inch or more of clearance.

In the picture, it looks as though the stalk was mounted in one of the leftmost holes instead of toward the center. That would make the difference, I believe...

Did you try rotating it out of the towhook? The center hole provides the best clearance while rotating but the nuts will still scratch the bumper.

Can't say that I tired rotating it off the tow hook receiver. However, what's to prevent you from putting some flat washers between the LPH and the stalk to gain some room?

Thanks for the posts guys! Just ordered my Go MINI Go tow hook mount based on the pics here. Would have ordered the platypus otherwise. But hate how it sits right on the bumper.
Check out this thread on a BMW forum:
http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showt...t-GoMiniGo.com

It includes a coupon code for the mount.
