Has anyone changed the color of their MINI using vinyl [wrap]?

A number of people have done this to make the finish a Mat finish rather than gloss.

If my memory serves me correctly Helix Motorsports was actually doing one at MINI's On The Dragon last year. It was mat olive drab green.

VicSkimmer did his R56 with JCW Aerokit in a matte white. He said upkeep was very hard and would stain easily I believe. He has since removed it and sold the car. He posts on m|u and has a thread about his process. Though, he pops up here once in a while.

Check the Vinyl Styles site.

Watch the cars go by in the gallery on the home page. All the matte finished cars are wrapped in vinyl.

That green Clubman used to be white.

other than matte black?

I've seen a lot of matte black makeovers . . . I was looking for someone using color a color other than your typical black. Maybe something from 3M 1080 gloss series http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...ts/Series1080/ . . . even matte army green?

This is a great link. The neon green clubman is exactly the type of job I was looking for:

Any folks want to comment on their experience with vinyl wrapping their MINI?

I'm thinking of doing the same and would love some insight.

Vehicle wraps last a good 4-5 years, or longer if well maintained. Removal can be tough past that term, and leave residue behind.
High performance materials are rated from about 8-12 years.
Some years are shaven off for roofs and other surfaces that are exposed to more sun. Garaging definitely is a plus.

Wraps are about half the cost of a professional paint job, they protect your paint, and are completely reversible.
