Front plate mounting help. Tow Hook misaligned JCW aerokit

FYI...

I've been running my hot new JCW aero kit JCW black/red monster for 15k miles. No plate and no problem. Johnny lawman stopped me the other day. Waved the ticket but said if I see your again you're getting one. He was parked 100 feet from where I'm going to be moving.

soo...I picked up a nice Outmotoring tow hook license plate adapter;. I went to install it and the actual tow hook on the chassis is a good inch above the pop out hole in the bumper.

Anyone else experience this? Again it's the Aero kit on the 2011. It's so far off I can't imagine it's a body kit fitment issue.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get a plate on the front of my car without drilling holes? Any way to attach it to the grill area?

Thank you!
-Gene

For 2011 the towing hook eyelet has been repositioned both in the standard and jcw bumpers, yours must still be using the old jcw bumper with the new 2011 bumper reinforcement where the towing eye is located. Hence a mismatch.

They put the old jcw bumpers on early 2011 jcws. The latest bumper has horizontal lines between the center grille and fog lamp surrounds.

Here's what's going on.

The picture was taken from low at an upward angle. It's off more than it looks in the image.

To me, this looks like the newer design, no?

Nopes, the new jcw bumper looks almost identical except for the horizontal grooves between fogs and grille and has a 3piece splitter. Your splitter has only 2 parts so you have the pre facelift bumper on a 2011 that's why the towing eye didn't line up. You either need a new 2011 jcw bumper or retrofit a 2010 bumper reinforcement/bracket, so the towing eyes match.

Ahhh.. oh well.

Do I have any case with my dealership?

Shouldn't, legally, the car some with a viable tow hook?

Any suggestions on how to mount my plate without drilling the bumper?

Thank you!

I wouldn't say legally it needs it, possibly. It could be chalked up to using left over parts or a simple mistake, similar to those who did not have satellite radio or paddle shifters.

I have this same problem... Just went to install my tow hook license plate mount after recently adding the jcw aero kit to my 2011 jcw.

No dice :(

Anybody have any other "no hole" options?

Also and advice if I need to tow it now?

two possible options:
that you dont have to cut or replace your whole bumper.
1.simple; place the plate in the window or mount on sun visor.
or
2.expensive..
remote license plate frame... do a search for them..

hope you find a solution..
