Rear Wiper Delete with Tailgater Squirter

After 4 months with my 2011 MCS, I have checked a number of mods off my to-do list and this is one of them.

Instead of plugging the wiper fluid supply line while doing the rear wiper delete, I went to LOWES and picked up two items: 1" Plastic hole plug and a 1/4" sprinkler drip line connector.

After removing the wiper blade arm and motor, I drilled a small hole in the plastic plug, press-fit the adapter in from the rear with a dap of epoxy, and trimmed the excess off the connector's tip so it was near flush with the plug.
Next, I put a little silicone on the back the plug, plugged the hole and pried the small tabs on the back so it held itself in nice and snug. Finally, I connected the washer fluid line to the drip line connector (perfect fit) and voila! A tailgater deterrent and fun trick to play on unsuspecting friends.

At a standstill, the stream reaches 15'. I'm curious what kind of distance I would get on the freeway...

UPDATE: Used the squirter on the freeway the other day and quickly realized the air flow over the car at that speed breaks up the stream and just creates a mister...oh well.

Enjoy!

I have the same concern too, especially since I work in Los Angeles!

I installed the squirter mostly because I wanted to remove the wiper arm but was afraid if I plugged the fluid line the fluid would back up and damage the pump or leak out into my hatch cover...exiting out the rear was the best solution.

This is a funny version of those damn diesels that leave me in a pile of soot.

I'd much rather get a little water on me than cancer!

Well, I have to admit that I have since removed the squirter. Not because it didn't work -worked awesome when I pulled up next to a buddy. Offered him a sincere 'what's up' wave, cut him off, sprayed him, laughed, and left. I am now awaiting payback. I didn't like the look of it, and on top of that, my kids couldn't get enough of it and I was draining my reservoir.

With a 1/4" irrigation tube and connector, I extended the tube to the bottom of the boot so it'll leak out the small hole and onto the bumper if I, or someone else, accidentally twists the lever. I replaced the plastic plug with a bike headset cap wrapped in glossy black vinyl - much sleeker! Good times though (and always reversible if I want it back).

An excellent mod for getting your MINI keyed.

Squirting a tailgater with your doohickie will not give you the last word. In some cases, you're just going to scalate things.

Being a smartass will eventually catch up with you.

Finally got this done My stream seems to be a lot thicker than yours. I also tried it on the freeway at 75mph and it stayed together. Thanks for the idea!

I painted mine gloss black and JB Welded the barb coupler to the hole plug.

I wonder why NAM didn't tell me my thread was getting funny!? Between the different camera angles and squirt sounds, your little vid made me laugh out loud!

What size barb did you use? Maybe I'll reverse mine and we can settle whose squirts further when we meet for the coding. "Classic pissing contest"

I think mine was 1/4". Contest for sure. But I never said mine went longer, just that it was thicker. And we all know it's not about the length, it's about the thickness

Good point. I think I'll have to drain and refill my reservoir with something else beside the factory alcohol-based fluid before I let mine dribble down the back again. I've used my windshield sprayers no more than 3 or 4 times in the last 2 years for the same reason...it leaves a nasty residue down the hood that cuts through my wax/sealant. Also, the nozzles continue to weep for a day or so after I used them.

I had good success with these in my last car: http://www.303products.com/windshiel...r-tablets.html
