Interior/Exterior Early amber/red rear taillights on later MK1 MCS
Early amber/red rear taillights on later MK1 MCS
Hey there, so I have an '05 MCS with the all red taillights, and I'm a big fan of amber turn sigs (visibility, look, etc).
I searched and didn't find much but posts on ebay taillight replacements, but what I'm looking for is how to/if I can put the early MK1 lights with the amber turn signal into a later MK1 with all red.
What would need to be re-wired? Would I have to put the reverse light down below in the black waffle blank space?
Thanks

I bought a set of euro spec tail lights when I got my 2006 MCS. They look like the standard light with the addition of the amber turn signals. I'm sorry, but after 5 years I can't remember who I bought them from. It was an outfit in England. I believe they used to be a site sponsor here.
A few ways you can go with this.
I purchased my new style Euro taillights with amber turn signals from NewMINIStuff in the UK.

There's also a white/clear lens version (with amber bulbs)

For the older style taillights and backup light, you can buy them brand new from a dealer or vendor:
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...32&hg=63&fg=20
List price $118 each plus $40 for the backup.
There are aftermarket equivalents on eBay for $82/pair, for example item #290478412337:

There are also used OEM lights on eBay for about the same price.

That first link is exactly what I want! I was actually going to shop ebay for the UK today to see if anyone was selling their tail lights and willing to ship to the states.
That's not a bad price either really.
Thanks rkw!

They don't have amber lenses for the turn signals, you replace the white bulbs with amber bulbs. I also linked the upper non-uses light to the bottom brake light (w/ a diode) so I have four brake lights instead of two. These are a bolt in with no modifications, the light panels from the stock lens snaps onto this lens.
