R57 Chrome Line Retrofit

I was really excited to find an economical (adhesive) chrome line kit for my R57. I ordered from Mini Mania. The next day I read the fine print and the kit includes everything but the openmeter! wtf? I inquired and Minimania told me that that guage is an option. ???

I'm so bummed. I'm just going to send it back. It'd look rediculous to have fake chrome everywhere but one guage.

Why not just add the option on there? Kinda of a waste.

I saw some close up pictures of the retrofit kit on a R55 and it looked pretty decent. But I'd hate with one guage plain. Why one earth does Mini Mania advertise it works for the R57>>>>>>>....it doesn't! Except for fools like me that buy and read later!

So instead - with these few extra dollars burning a hole in my pocket - I will upgrade the 'premium' sound system in my 2009 car.

I bought as a leftover 2009 ($4.3k discount). Equipped 95% as I would have ordered, including Aero kit......but, I would have added the chrome kit and done without wasting $$ on the sound system.

I will treat this then as a blessing disguise. I'll have to re-read the instructions on installing the real thing and see if it's worth it. Most likely not.

I retrofitted the real thing and it took not even half an hour. Really easy once you get started. It's well worth it too, totally transforms the look inside the car.

I called to get the price of the special piece needed for the Convertible - the tach and openmeter. $400 from Morristown. I don't think so. I'll just need to do without.
