got prosport gauges? need your advice!

hey boys. Im about to pull the trigger to get me some nice prosport guages (boost and oil temperature)

Im at the prosport website right now and it looks like the have two different types of gauges.the first one is just a regular gauge for $64.00 (from the performance series 60mm). The other 60mm gauge seems to be from the premium series, in that it includes the ability to track my peak boost and set warning levels as well (this one sells for $88.50)

For those of you that have the prosport gauges, which one did you go with? were you happy with your choice? do you believe its worth the extra money to buy the premium gauge over the performance gauge? thanks!

Prosport is fine if you're looking for a boost gauge. But if you're going to have the water temp, oil temp, exhaust temp, ect.... then you should definitely go with the Defi for reliable accurate readings. They cost more but you get what you paid for.

I love my prosports, I think they look great and almost stock. I didnt know their oil temperatures could be off though, is there any evidence of this? I like the max readout for the boost gauge but I don't track my car so I dont really use the max readout for the oil temp.

It working fine so far except the background color. It stayed amber the whole time and now it changes from amber to white, and sometimes it changes from white to amber. I wired exactly like the manual said, weird

I dont think the base ones, or whatever theyre called, have the ability to change color to amber?

If so get the better ones!.. It would be much much too bright at night in white-mode

Ive had no problems with mine so far (alta kits), except they are a little hard to see during the day if there is glare (using the shields).

Id also suggest staying away from the alta pods... they are just plastic and don't mount very securely compared to others (craven, vip, ect)

I have the premium ones and they're crap. The gauges themselves are quite noisy and the peak recall buttons rattle something fierce.

I was told by Alta and Prosport to turn the bezel to try and tighten up the contact point between the lens and the button, but this only works for about 5 minutes at a time and eventually results in a loose bezel that will spin freely and not correct the problem anymore. Applying silicone to the offending pin kind of works but it's a pretty mickey mouse solution to a problem that the gauges shouldn't have in the first place.

At night the lighting matches the rest of the gauges. Although I haven't independently verified their readouts I assume they're somewhat accurate. Fit and finish is crap though.

I'm definitely looking for better quality gauges.

+1 about the Alta pods as well. I'll be swapping them out for a more secure mount that ties the two pods together behind the tach.

Give Defi a shot man. You won't be disappointed. I had them on my EVO for 3 years and they never failed me. They don't make a whole lot of noise either.
