Hi, I bought a used mini, (03 electric blue cooper s) I want to debadge it but i dont know if its too late. Will there be discoloration if i debadge the Cooper S? I live in Connecticut so we don't have heat all year round to fade the paint, but in the summer it gets pretty hot. What do you think/What would you do?

 

you should be fine. floss and a clay bar should do the trick.

You'll be fine. If it were something huge like bonnet or boot stripes, then you could be concerned.

 

you dont think that youll be able to see the outline of it when i remove it?

 

After a little clay bar and wax, you'll only see it if you use a microscope!

 

I have a good answer for you

I debadged (and then rebadged with R53 rather than cooper) about a week or two weeks ago.
Mine is also a 2003, but it is Indi blue.

At first I debadged, and after I cleaned off all the sticky stuff left from the badges, (using adhesive remover) I was like.. oh no, you can reallllyyyy see the insides of where the O's were!

I showed my pa and he was like, nah! rub some rubbing compound on it, and then some polishing compound!
So I did, and I guess I was rubbing the rubbing compound too long, but it was okay, at first it was a dull patch where the emblems were, which is how it is supposed to be.
Then I just put some polishing compound on a rag and rubbed that around for a while.
whiped that off, perfect! could never tell.
Less than an hour of work, maybe 30 minutes.
If you look at my Gallery, you can look at the pictures of the R53 emblems on, and so to the left of the R that would be were you would have seen the inside of the O's.

I just did mine today and my dad told me to use rubbing compound too and i used it lol....I still see the outlines on the letters a little still, Should i keep doing the rubbing compound? oh and i dont have the polishing compound i never used that

 

Clay bar, distilled alcohol, buff and polish.

 

Yeah, I just rubbed it until I couldnt really see it,
but you could still see it slightly if the light was hitting it right, I ended up going too far but it was okay, it still polished up good, don't use distilled alcohol after you used the polish compound it removes it and you have to polish it again haha.

The more you rub it with rubbing compound the more dull it will get,
so what I would say, it rub it and then polish it, and if you can still see it, you can rub more rubbing compound on it and then polish it, until you are content, it is kind of scary, just make sure you dont go all the way through the paint! haha.
The polishing compound I got out of some.. buffer polisher thing, my dad said it would be too hardcore and to just rub it on by hand.
