Mini Cooper S Overlay Grill Opinions

do you think this would look dumb? Its just an overlay grill. I like it because its easy to install and i wouldnt have to pay anyone, but i dont know if it would look good. what do you think?

it says in the description "Easy to install with applied 3M tape!" and it says "Grill Cover" so im guessing you just put it over the existing grill. So you think it would look good?

I don't think it would be something that you just stick over the existing grill.....no room to do it.

The OEM grill is easy to remove, the middle section on the bumper is harder as you have to remove the bumper to get to the tabs.

IF, it was a true over lay, wouldn't you be able to see the old grille thru it???
bout looks like an aero grille, and sometimes you can find one in the market place cheaper then that..

Not to crap on a thread, but what "modifications" need to be done to the bumper for the lower grill? His site isn't exactly clear....

I love my yellow grill, but I flirty with the idea of putting the honeycomb ones on. If it's an easy job (I can take off the bumper.. that I know you have to do) then I'd seriously consider purchasing these for my Mini.

I saw something similar on Ebay one time. It said you place this over the existing grill with 3M tape. You could see the slats from the stock grill behind it. I'm thinking this is the same thing, except the picture is really bad. Look real closely at the lower grill, and you can see a chrome slat. If it is what it says it is, it's an easy remedy to get rid of a chrome grill. I'd expect some fit and finish problems though.

Its a pretty involved job to do the middle grill in the stock non-aero bumper if you arent a DIY kind of person. It requires cutting the grill and the bumper.

The top grill is just a straight swap. The non aero grill is a different design, so the link he provided, does not look like a 'overlay' because you'd be able to see the lines from the non aero grill.

The middle grill requires a bit more work, about 6 hours if your just a regular average Joe like me. Basically the Aero grill was designed for the Aero Kit front bumper, which has a deeper indention (pocket). So if you tried to just pop the mid aero grill into the non aero bumper, it would protrude and stick out. Also the holes on the bumper would not match to the aero grill. So you have to do 2 things. Dremel the aero grill and make it thinner, and then you have to physically cut holes into the bumper for the new clips. Another thing is, the non aero bumper has this plastic piece that is attached to the bumper under neath the non aero grill. In order for the aero grill to sit flush, you'd have to trim that off as well. PM me for more info. if you want to know more.
