Hi folks, as anybody made this mod yet?
If so, how difficult was it and where did you acquire the unit.
Thanks,Johnny

Check this out:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-motoring.html

I'm about to do this myself, after I figure out what has changed between the 09 and 10 models.

Cheers!!

Hi, thanks for the link, I found a thread in the "how to" site, shows you removal of the overhead module, the rest should be fairly easy.
Thanks again, Johnny

Hi Poppa bear, please let me know how you make out w/ that install.
I purchased the unit from K-P and it would be awesome if you could give me any pointers.
Best wishes, Johnny

Yeah, I'll get some snaps, too. On the couple of mods I've done so far, Mini-Fini Arm Rest and the AutoSport Plus, the year model difference has been a bit of bother. I'm looking at using Posi-Tap connectors instead of soldering up in the overhead, so that'll be a change in the instructions.

Cheers!!

Install went very smoothly, especially with the Posi-Tap connectors. Though I had to provide my own double-sided tape to mount the module onto the car (to keep it from sliding in the curves!!), there was plenty of room above the headliner for all the wires and connectors. Now, if I can only figure out the timing rate for actuation...

Cheers!!

Hi Poppa Bear, thanks for the update, glad it went smoothly!
Question for you, was the wiring diagram that came with the unit correct?
Timing rate? I thought it was 2 touch express open, 1 touch to stop.

I actually posted to the KP forum about the wiring diagram as it did not reflect the actual wiring order on the module. Kevin replied that the wiring sequence for the module was irrelevant and the install went quite well. As for the timing rate, I had the AutoUp circuit for my R53 and I'm used to it's timing. Seems that Ian's circuit expected the double click in less that 3/4 of a second while the KP mod wants them in no less than 3/4 second. Just me having to figure this out. Guess I should watch the training film a couple of more times!!

Cheers!!

Poppa are you going to the Dragon this year?
I'm hoping to go, looks like a great venue.

As my son is up in Boone, NC, I'll be on the Dragon for sure but it'll be late in the year after waiting for my car to get shipped from Europe!

Cheers!!

The Posi-Tap is a great idea...can you tell me which part number Posi-Taps you used for this installation?

Hi Poppa, I just bought them @ Napa Auto Parts, question, did you seal the tops of the connecters to make them water tight?
Like using black gasket sealer............
Johnny

part # 785965 posi-tap

Because I'm overseas and really like these connectors, I bought a couple of assortments (ZRTL-PTA-24, ZRTL-PTL1026-30, and ZRTL-604-30) direct from their site. Their website mailing forms didn't have APO but they sent them anyways. Another example of excellent customer service!!

I didn't even consider doing this as the connections are immediately on the other side of the headliner. If there's water in there, I'll not be worrying about opening the sunroof!!

I hope this helps ya'll do this mod and Good Luck!

Cheers!!

Hi, the idea to seal the tops came to me due to possible condensation issues, which most likely is overkill..........
Thanks for all your help, Johnny
