Interior/Exterior Spirited motoring causes cabin object to fly! Suggestions?
My MCS is not due for delivery until next year, but I've already caught the bug. Now I'm driving my 1988 Ford Festiva in a spirited way.
The downside is that my wallet, cell phone, books, and miscellaneous things that I place on the passenger seat go flying during spirited motoring.
I've seen the boot box. I wonder if some handy seamstress has made a stylish, soft-sided box to sit on the passenger seat to hold these kinds of items. I could ask someone in town to make one. It'd be cool if it strapped in, in a nice looking way.
What do people do to keep it all together?
Suggestions or pictures would be great.
Yours in safety,
Dan

This looks like the right URL. Cool, I like this handy little thing.

Dan,
You don't want to place all those items in a "seat bag", unless it is, as you suggested, strapped in! Otherwise you'd just have a larger flying object! The nets behind the seats are also very useful, also the little pockets in the back to the right and left of the seat bench. The cupholders can be useful for a cell phone and other small objects. There is also a glove box organizer, very useful. Do a search and you'll see photos posted.
You can find the "hot pocket" and glove box organizer through several of the MINI vendors.
Good luck!

Careful not to break your Festiva before your MCS arrives- it is very hard on the car to drive like that.

The rule of thumb when driving track, driving school, or autocross is to remove all loose items from inside the car before any performance driving. If you are on the street and loaded down with various objects and you drive hard you will be in serious trouble when items go flying around to cause you loss of control of your vehicle or harm you.

Simple solutions are to leave all loose things at home unless absolutely needed. All small items can be put into a small soft gym bag or netbag in the case of sports equiptment and placed in the boot. The boot net is also good.
The back seat area down low by the feet is good for a box deep enough to hold objects twice the size of a bread loaf and all cans or cups need to be covered and in the cup holders. The storage organizers for the center console and glovebox are good and they do work.
I have found that the euro shelf is too flat to hold anything light weight but something that can be tightly wedged in like a thick CD case or holder might stay put.
Save your spirited driving for the track or driving school. Your festiva is 5 or 6 years old and might not like being stressed in corners with stock tires and suspension. It's not that hard to loose control or to break something- even worse if you have more miles on it.
I would keep things away from the front seat area. When I have some items that I cannot easily secure then I always drive slow and take it very easy.
Otherwise you might have this happen to you too!!-

i put my wallet and celphone in the minifini cup holder when im out driving spritedly in the cooper-s. works like a charm.
your books and stuff should probably go in the trunk and you can get a net for it too to strap it down. i carry a
large beach towel which i put on top of my misc stuff to keep it from
rolling around. it's probably the best alternative to using a net.

Call it an opportunity to lighten your load and become a minimalist! At least that's how I look at it.
If you are looking for a GBO (which I guarantee you will NEED), do a search for GoMiniGo. He makes an EXCELLENT one.
