Interior/Exterior stoneguard (autoclearguard)ordered... anyone installed these
i ordered from autoclearguard.com ...too bad the guy is out of the office until next week. shucks, might get too cold to install in chicago by the time i receive it.
anyway, anyone have first-hand experience installing these? im doing the front bumper only for the factory aero kit as its so easy to chip/scratch non-factory paint.
i got instructions off their site and ive installed vinyl decals before....how much
different is it? any help would be appreciated.

do it in a warm place. The clear is a little easier, just keep it lubed when squigeing (sp). Most of the clear I have seen is a little more rubbery than a decal, so it can get tricky if it starts stretching.
I installed the clear bra on the front end of my car myself. Definitely need someplace warm and dust free for the install. Whatever you do make sure you keep your hands wet. If a dry finger touches the adhesive, you could end up with a permanent fingerprint staring back at you after you're done.
Good luck. Just be very patient with it and you'll be fine!

thanks for the input! thanks for
the info on keeping my fingers wet at all times ill make sure to have a little
cup with the same soap solution so that i can dab my fingers while i peel back
the clear.

good news, Ryan over at autoclearguard said he can ship it out tomorrow despite his out of office mesages. I left him a voicemail about my situation with dropping outside temps which may affect adhesion... this is great news and
im real excited to hear that he can help me out.
I'll be installing it later on the week.

Thanks for the business and please call me if you have any questions at all in regards to the install.
The main thing is to be patient and take your time. Clean the surface thoroughly with alcohol and apply lots of soap/water solution to the surface before appling the film. Once you roll the film out on the paint, pick the film back up and spray the soap/water solution again. The main goal is to get the whole bumper slippery. Once the film is slippery, make sure you align everything. Then spray the acohol in the middle approx 6 inches or so and squeegee out the solution. Then go to one edge of the bumper and again spray the soap solution to make slippery. Stretch the film to fit the contour of the bumper and with the other hand again spray the alcohol solution out.
You can play with the film as long as you want as long as there is soap solution under the film. Get the film in the correct spot and spray the alcohol solution to tack it down.
A hair dryer comes in hand with edges that won't stay down.
Try not to wash the car for couple days after the install.
Please NOTE: If you see bubbles under the film, DO not try to push them out.. You will leave a snake trail. Just let the bubbles slowly work them selves out in the sun. May take couple days.
Otherwise, wax the bra once in a while and enjoy your car....
Thanks
Ryan

well, did the install tonight taking about 3hours to do...the fitment was not that great, its like 2inchs too narrow..but stretched it out. had problems with getting
the film below the headlights to stay on as there is just to much excess left.
it wrinked up pretty bad so after i got it on there, i trimmed off a bit to rid
the wrinkles. looks ok.
now i got a bunch of white clouds left under the film. i squeegeed pretty good
but can't get them out. ryan (above) mentioned not to force it out so i left it.... is that cloud really going to dissappear? if not im tearing this thing off. not sure
if im really happy with autoclearguard.

Sorry to hear you had so much trouble. My kit fit with no problems. As far as the cloudiness, I had the same problem and it freaked me out after spending all that time and money installing the bra. Ryan told me to just park the car out in the sun for a few days and sure enough, everything cleared right up!
I've got nothing but good things to say about Auto Clear Guard. I found Ryan to be very helpful while I was going through the install.

jersegirl- thanks for the info. yah, im 'ok' with doing window tints and decals so i thought this would be a breeze to install..but all that stretching...wheew. i did
wet my hands with the soap solution so no finger prints.
thanks for the info on the cloudiness thing...i parked it out in the sun this
morning at the office so im hoping itll come out pretty soon. yah, Ryan did
email me back about this and said not to worry for now. its not air bubbles,
rather more like soap solution cloud. the solution was pretty thin though.
so, if that cloudiness goes away, i think im happy. the part that doesn't have
the cloudiness, my wife couldn't figure out where the film lines were was at first.
next up after it dries is to Scratchx the film to rid the light swirls i got during the install and then wax it up.

buddy of mine gave me 2 heatlamps and it helped clear out the clouds!
the bumper was toasty for 2-3 hours.
i got a lot of swirl marks in the film. how do you guys take it out or
made them less visible? I used some Meguirars scratchx, didn't help much,
used some CleanerWax, helped a little more, tried GoldClassWax, still
got about 50% swirls left under a lamp. polymer wax?
any suggestions? thanks.
