1. First of all, and I blame myself, but I just assumed these were PIAA lights. They are NOT. They are some brand called VISION VX. Anyone even heard of these?

2. The light bracketry and the chrome plating on the brackets doesn't look so hot but then, I have nothing to compare it to. I was hoping that someone had some of these lights for a while and could report on the longevity of the chrome against rust.

3. The MINI MADNESS heavy duty mounting brackets provided are a 'CLOSE' fit but not exact. I have my doubts the tiny pop rivits will hold things tight for long and they certainly won't pull the bracket tight against the sheet metal since it isn't a flush fit to begin with. Any one have problems with these?

4. The switch provided is a joke and another one must be sourced either from MINI or from Radio Shack.

5. There are NO instructions provided at all.

6. One final thing the Mini Madness guy said would be "No problem"....I have the standard MCS grille on now and wish to remove it and install an Aero grille. I see the Aero grille will have to have slits cut into it to have the brackets slide through. Question: 1. How do you remove the old grille. Are those nuts one way nuts? 2. How do you determine where to make the slits in the Aero grille?

7. I also paid $35 shipping and handling. Granted I asked for 3-day but was told it was just be "a little more". I feel this is just a bit excessive. I have never paid more than $12 for a 10lb package on priority! I know, I know......I should have asked.

I don't want this to be a total rant, I just want to see if other peoples experiences are similar or if the product has been the same.

PLEASE, PLEASE, can someone tell me what you think and especially if these VISION VX lights are what Mini Madness has been selling ALL ALONG!

Thanks for reading the long post.

Brad,

Do you have your MCS yet and just haven't installed MINI madness lights? Aren't you in STL if I remember your posts from the Midwest section right? If so let me know, I fitted the OEM myself and I could see what you got versus what I have and see what problems you might have.

Join us on Saturday, and you can compare with 30 others!!!

If you can't make the full event, you can come by the Home Depot on Watson between 9:00 - 9:30, as that is where we are all gathering before leaving for some curvy roads!

I will try to be there at 9:00 sharp. I have to leave at 9:30 to be in West county for a meeting by 10am. Will you be there early? Hope to see you then.

Meanwile, if anyone else has any input on these light kits from MINI Madness I would appreciate it. Has ANYONE purchased one of these?

I put on the OEM rally lights and even w/ them if you're going to use the aero grill you need to cut them in a precise fashion as according to the instructions that were included. Since your lights are not OEM the cuts necessary for your install may be different.

Good luck

Thanks for cleaning up my posts, Dave. Been having an issue with either my computer settings or a virus glitch. After I post it goes to a blank page. Another issue I've been having is that I get e-mailed EACH TIME SOMEONE POSTS ON MCO and it shows up as e-mail

I had 55 e-mails from MCO today (or 61, can't remember). Any ideas?

Sorry to hijack tis thread.

MINI MADNESS UPDATE:

1. They claimed the lights were quality but get this...they are made in Taiwan.. They weigh a pound less each than PIAA's! He claims that's good. I say it's because they are cheap.

2. I also state that we are all being deceived because they have photos of PIAA lights on their websight. When I brought this to their attention on 10/18/03 they stated they would change them immediately. Hmmmmm.

So folks, what you see isn't always what you get. It cost be over $50 in shipping charges (two ways) to find out. Buyer Beware!!!

Hey Brad,

Forgot to tell you yesterday, Classic MINI sells the OEM way below what you'd get locally. Want to say I paid $303 including shipping last year. Might want to check with them if you want driving lights, but not the cheap Taiwanese junk.
