Quote: Just finished installing Marshall MINI oil pressure and boost gauges in my '02 MCS. Thought I would post what they look like. First of all I would like to thank "plasticknives" for his inexpensive gauge mount, I built one very similar to his and it works great. One issue I had was mounting the gauge oil pressure sender along with the original sensor on the block. Very little space and I couldn't get it not to leak so I mounted them remotely, the ONLY way to go!

Much easier installatin and no leaks.

This is what the Marshall MINI gauges look like installed.

and with the lights on

If you want to dim your add on gauges with the stock gauges disconnect the plug on the back of your tach and tap into the middle wire. That is the backlight power for the Tachometer. Hook that to your backlight wire on your new gauges and they will dim the same as the stock gauges.

'02 Liquid Yellow MCS
The remote mounting of the oil pressure sender might just be the easiest way to go. On my '09MC getting the Tapless adapter/sender to not leak was a PITA, but it worked. On the '011MCS there is less room to work and I need to investigate how this remote idea would fit! Thanks for the thought.

I posted over at "What did you do to your MINI today", but thought I'd post up here too. Marshall gauges, Craven mount system and some miscellaneous components courtesy of Custom MINI Shop - Fresno, CA.

Thanks for the help Steve!

Thanks Chief... Here's a couple more pics of the remote oil sender and the Water Temp tap. Note the vacuum line for the Boost gauge running beneath the OCC lines in the Oil Temp pic. Also, I put in an inline disconnect for the water and oil temp so they could be removed w/o damaging the wires. The plug is visible in the water temp tap pic. All-in-All, and not including chasing parts, roughly 20 or so hours in the project...

Sweet. And I love the clean look of the OCC and sender hoses going thru the cowl bulkhead...very professional.

Thanks... I posted the entire project on the "What did you do to your MINI today" thread. I screwed that up and it should'a been here. Take a look as I've included the details of the job and pictures of the sending units.

Thanks to everyone for their posts and helpful information!

I installed my Marshall Oil Pressure and Coolant Temperature gauges this weekend. They look great and so far, seem to work great. The information regarding the wiring was especially helpful.

Since I have my computer set up for daytime running lights, I used the switched power and lighting power from the cigarette lighter as suggested. It sure made life easier!

Next up, install my Helix FMIC!

Thanks again!

I love my Marshall gauges. They are much better than the OEM Auxiliary Gauge Kit. I was disappointed with the poor lighting and cheap quality of the gauges. I plan to install the Voltmeter and Oil Temp gauges next in the center console area below the auxiliary switches. I have the Oil Pressure, Water Temp, and Boost gauges now on the steering column. I also plan to replace the mechanical boost gauge with a an electrical boost gauge.

Thank you. I used the gauge pod from the oem auxiliary kit to house the boost and oil pressure gauges. I already had the iPhone 4 holder from cravenspeed I needed to order the 32mm gauge pod and small extender. With out the extension the pod sits bend line of site of the steering and I can't see it. This way the upper left pod holding the water temp gauge now sits flush with the oil pressure gauge. All in all this set up looks way better than the oem Aux gauges it replaced. As I said earlier the oem kit was not up to my standards.

Anyone have the link for ordering these gauges? I'm wanting to add a boost gauge to my JCW. Trim rings are gray around the a/c vents and the tach is all black; no chrome.

Why didn't they build the "recall" button into the Boost gauge like a tachometer has????

Having to mount a secondary button for the recall function is a huge disappointment.
