I know GReddy used to make a wideband A/F gauge with the same silver face and bezel that JackFlash has. Not sure if it is still in production however.

If my engine is running hot and the thermostat opens up or if I turn on my AC it is going to cause my temps to go from the normal 220 area to the 190-200 area. Also if I start really kicking the turbo it will drop the temps in the same manner.

Interesting Tron, Monday I used the AC at the Max setting. The temperature lately has been in the high 90's. Feel better after you guys chimed in with your experiences.

Actually Marshall makes a very close looking silver analog A/F gauge. SRTech showed me a pic. Only really thing that is different is the needle center is black, not silver. He is calling Marshall to see if they can remedy this for us Mini people If that happens I am going to get one and post pics, I may post the pics of what they have now and let everybody see it.

Correct, on some of their gauges. I have the water temp and boost, they both have the silver center, but they haven't as yet make the A/F like that, but hopefully

Between Marshall's and Custom Mini Shop I'm sure this modification is possible.

Your silver needled AFR gauge should be here today. I'll take a picture with it next to the MINI gauges. I don't believe there is enough interest in a MINI specific gauge, but maybe I will be proved wrong.

Time to re-post gauge prices. All gauges are in stock. I can supply any of Marshall Instruments' gauges at a great price, MINI or not. I'm also testing the new CravenSpeed Hotlink for the automatic transmission, second generation MINIs, so it should be available soon.

Current Gauge Prices at Custom Mini Shop. The electric gauges without peak recall and warning (in red) are still available.

7411 - Vac/Boost, 30" Hg - 30 PSI (mechanical) $57.99

7471 - Vac/Boost 30" Hg - 30 PSI (stepper) $108.99

7421 - Voltmeter, 0-18V (electric) $57.99

7472 - Voltmeter, 0-18V (stepper) $66.99

7433 - Oil pressure, 0-100 PSI (electric) $79.99

7473 - Oil pressure, 0-100 PSI (stepper) $89.99

7434 - Water temperature, 100-260°F (electric) $73.99

7474 - Water temperature, 100-260°F (stepper) $82.99

7435 - Oil temperature, 170-310°F (electric) $79.99

7475 - Oil temperature, 170-310°F (stepper) $89.99

Marshall Dimmer for stepper gauges $25.99

RAC Dimmer for steppers (integrates with MINI's dimmer) - $45.00

Oil pressure, oil temperature and water temperature gauges include the sending unit with 1/8" NPT connection.

Stepper motor gauges have peak recall and warning functions.

CravenSpeed mounting systems and sender unit adapters are still available at a good price, also.

Please call Custom Mini Shop at 559.320.0004 or e-mail steve@blackoaks.com for ordering information. Thanks.

JIMINNI's Marshall AFR with the silver needle in our display. The face doesn't match, but if you're not too picky.....

There is a factory gauge kit that comes with a mounting panel. The panel is available separately and fits under the switch panel and screws to the console beneath. There are also CravenSpeed mounts (Z brackets) for the speedo/tach combo. If you mount the cups up high you can clear the steering wheel. It's not the best looking way to mount the gauges but at least you can see them.

That A/F gauge is sweet. However, they must have changed the production design. The SCX Silver gauges on Marshall's website show a black needle base instead of silver. Having the face match is not the most important to me. Overall color theme is what makes my day... silver tone, silver/amber needle, amber lighting.

Now if Marshall made a wideband O2 MINI specific gauge, or at least an EGT gauge (which is supposed to allow determining A/F by calculating the exhaust temperature), that would be the best.

I had this gauge made specially for JIMINMI, it's not a regular production model.

JumpingJackFlash, not sure what you mean by a wideband gauge? It's not the guage that matters its the sensor. I had a bung installed on my header and will get a wideband sensor so it will be a wideband.

The gauge needs to be matched to the sensor - you can't use a wideband sensor with any old gauge and expect it to work.

Even if you have a wideband sensor and wideband gauge, the gauge still has to be calibrated to the sensor. If you take a handful of different-brand wideband sensor/gauge packages and swap around the sensors, they still wouldn't read accurately until you calibrated them (if the gauge even allows calibration - not all do.)

So how does one, calibrate them?

If you're using the sensor that came with the gauge, you shouldn't need to calibrate it since it should have been done at the factory.

If you do need to calibrate it, you can buy tanks of compressed gas that will give a certain A/F ratio. Then, you just adjust the gauge until it reads correctly. A tuning shop would probably be your best bet for this.

But the easiest solution is to use the sensor that comes with the gauge in order to avoid all the compatibility/calibration issues.

ScottRiqui, thanks for chiming in. I know that most narrowband gauges read on a 0-1 Volt range, and that most wideband gauges read on a 0-5 Volt range (hence the better accuracy). Yes, the GReddy gauge computer adapters do have dials on them, which I would suspect are for calibration purposes.

Having said that, can I actually mate the gauge unit with a wideband O2 sensor? If that is possible, I would definitely like to make that upgrade.

If you get a wideband kit like innovative's LC-1 you can calibrate it to match whatever sort of gauge you want.

I believe you can even set it's voltage output so you could get away with a narrowband gauge and still have wideband accuracy.
I've used them before in (non-mini) projects with great success.

Paul at Marshall recommends the Innovate sensors since Marshall makes most of the Innovate gauges. The Marshall AFR gauge needs 0-5 volts.

Marshall MINI Gauges

Just finished installing Marshall MINI oil pressure and boost gauges in my '02 MCS. Thought I would post what they look like. First of all I would like to thank "plasticknives" for his inexpensive gauge mount, I built one very similar to his and it works great. One issue I had was mounting the gauge oil pressure sender along with the original sensor on the block. Very little space and I couldn't get it not to leak so I mounted them remotely, the ONLY way to go!

Much easier installatin and no leaks.

This is what the Marshall MINI gauges look like installed.

and with the lights on

If you want to dim your add on gauges with the stock gauges disconnect the plug on the back of your tach and tap into the middle wire. That is the backlight power for the Tachometer. Hook that to your backlight wire on your new gauges and they will dim the same as the stock gauges.
