Does anyone have any ideas on how to extend the left foot rest?
Thanks
Kurt

Not sure what you mean by "extend". If you mean "move the rest closer towards the driver", you might try one of the aluminum "dead pedals" sold by Momo, Sparco, and others; and install a "spacer" plate behind the dead pedal. You may be able to move the surface of the foot rest towards you by an inch or so. Always have to be careful when drilling holes into the sheet metal, though!

If you would like URL's to possible sites, drop me a line.

I 'm looking for a way to do this, too as the foot rest in my Passat was of a much more natural height to get to from the clutch pedal. Maybe someone should make an extender...

I wish someone made an aftermarket extender for the dead pedal. The stock one is absolutely useless.

You can pry off the existing left footrest, then using any thick sheet of rubber, ie: a garage floor mat, cut one or two layers, then bolt or screw the rubber to the footrest. I extended mine because it was farther away from the driver (me) than the accelerator pedal, making the MINI uncomfortable to drive. I added about an inch in thickness. Moving the seat is useless! This is probably only a problem in a CVT car.

The footrest distance is definitely a problem in the CVT MINI! This is not a joke, unless you are lucky enough to have a longer left leg. Merry Christ Mass.

Great tips on the left foot rest. I've had a similar problem and have a CVT.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the "dead pedal" so low that it's useless and feels wrong. It's really just a fancy spot on the floor. I've considered making an extension in fiberglass or carbon/fiber but the fusebox door is in the way and I didn't want to peel up the oval that is there w/out knowing if it would be damaged.

Has anyone lifted off the factory dead pedal?

How much interest would there be in an extension that slipped over the black part of the factory dead pedal and attached to it on the lower side and to the kick panel up higer and then had the oval indentation up top for the factory metal/rubber bit?

Keep in mind, installation would invariably require some holes to be driilled in the kick panel, and maybe the side of the factory dead pedal. I'd probably want to use riv-nuts because they're stronger than the plastic blind fasteners yet would still allow repeated removal with a simple tool whenever access to the fuse box is needed. That said, you might need to spend $20 for a riv-nut tool from Harbor Frieght to complete the install.

Too much trouble?

Better ideas?
