My and my girlfriend were messing around with the trick your own MINI card we got at MINI of SF ( you know the ones were you can put the wheels, surfing antenna, etc. ) Well, we had a contest on who makes the better looking one and I put a white roof on it. I started to like it and wondered how that would look on a real one.

Did anyone paint their PS roof white? Pictures?

I think it is a good idea. MINI at some point in time had pics of Pure Silver with white roof and mirrors but for some marketing reason they scrapped the idea completely before launching the car in the US.


How Solid Gold came about, I have no idea.

 

In one of the MINI books there's a pic of a PS with a blue top. (...actually it was that hydrogen powered MINI with a blue "watery" graphic in roof and mirrors. I also saw a pic of an EB with silver roof in one of the BMW mags recently. As for silver and white...for playing around, fine, but I don't think a real car would look very good in that combo. Just my opinion.... :smile:

 

The reason BMW didn't offer PS with white top is because their designers believes that it would be a poor combination. Light color againt light is usually a no no...but some exeptions that includes hue saturations such as yellow, red, etc.. Like yellow stripes on a silver color vehicle looks very attractive. But not white stripes. Most designers agree, including me. But it's your car so you can do anything you want to it

I agree with Silver. I would either contrast with the black roof or have the pure silver roof match the body.

The most attractive MCS I've ever seen was silver,silver roof and silver aero kit.

 

I've seen an original Mini that was Silver with a White roof...it was bitchen, too! My first Cooper was Pure Silver/Pure Silver, and hubby thought the roof should've been painted White. I really like Rye's piccie of it with the white rims. Very cool.

 

Wellll....I'm having second thoughts....I think if your went all the way and painted the cladding in silver it would look pretty "dinner party" cool...very shiek and sophisticated

 

but the question is... as shiek and sophisticated as, say, a DANCING BANANA?!?!

I really like Dark Silver/White Roof. I've seen a few that way, and have found them to be really classy looking. I'm not crazy about PS/White. It's just a little to light for me. But to each his/her own!

I love PS, but didn't want a black roof because of the oppressive Florida sun (and it's parked in direct sunlight all day long, 6 days a week). I had to have a white roof.

In the new Italian Job, is that white MINI a pepper white? Or is it really white?

 

I think the PS/W looks really classy. I do admit though, I'm not sure if it would look so hot w/o the white wheels. Anyway, I bet this combo would look really good in person (if they ever made it).

In the IJ, the car is Pepper White all around. I have the IJ trailer poster and you can see that the white MINI is creamier colored than the red/blue MINIs white roofs. So, I'm pretty sure it's PW.

All 3 cars have White Roofs and Black mirrors!

It is the MINI Configurator. I downloaded it to a CD months ago. I played with it for months, trying to decide between IB and CR. After I decided on my color choice, I mailed my CD to a friend of mine in San Antonio. So I can't copy it for you. I'll try to find it again for you.

Yep, but you are in good company!! I really put my foot in my mouth one day here on MCO and was set straight fast by someone who knew. but I just KNEW the white car was Pepper White with Same color roof, I mean enought to sort of argue at bit with him !!

Well to prove it to myself, once and for all! I grabbed my neighbor and made her go with me to see the movie again (my 3rd time) and sure enough, the man on MCO was correct! The white MINI is Pepper White with a Bright White Roof! and all 3 have white roofs and black mirrors!

I then found the Italian Job site shows lots of good photos of the MINIs too - once you enter, click the Red MINI and then click Stills. Italian Job

It's strange that they made that weird combo (PW w/ white roof) just for the IJ movie. Why not paint the whole car pure white? Especially since that combination isn't possible to order. Would anyone even want that?

 

We've had a few requests for alternative roof color combos for people. IB/LY roof, CR/DS roof, Black/DS roof and a Pure Silver with a pink roof. They usually tie in the color of their mirrors with the pinstriping.
