Interior/Exterior Bonnet stripes... Over or under clear bra???
So I got my clear bra kit today. I've already decided to replace the factory stripes with something a bit more unique but I'm debating whether the stripes should be under or over the clear bra.
On the one hand, if they are over the bra then I can replace them easily if they get damaged. I've read a few times here that they aren't extremely durable, or at least not as durable as the bra material.
On the other hand, if they are under the bra they are partially protected. BUT should the portion not covered get damaged, then I can't replace them without removing the more expensive clear bra piece.
What's the general opinion (if there is one) among everyone?

Actually, it you're careful you could replace the exposed portion of the stripe by peeling it up to the bra and cutting it there. Then just replace the upper part. The only thing to worry about there is how long the stripe has been on before you have to fix it. There'll probably be a slight color difference between the old and new sections but it may not be noticible dependent on what color your stripes are.
The alternative of going over the bra may present the problem of wanting to peel the bra off when you try to remove the stripes

I have the clear bra, but no stripes so I can't tell you what's correct. What I can tell you is that I've heard of the bra being installed over the stripes, but I've never heard of it being done the other way around. When my bra installer mentioned it, it was in the context of the bra over the stripes.
That doesn't mean it can't be done, or even that it wouldn't be better. It's just the only way I've personally heard of it being done.
If it was me, I'd ask an experienced bra installer.

>>also how do u remove ur facotry bra? it doesnt harm the paint?
I just pulled my factory bra off last week...did not hurt the paint at all. I just started at one side and pulled very, very slowly so as not to leave adhesive behind. Little tiny bits of adhesive were left in some areas, and I had to trim around my hood logo thingy. I used Goo-Gone to take the adhesive off, which does not hurt paint, also excellent for tar removal. Then I buffed down the eintire hood to remove swirls, then finished it all off with Phase 2 and Phase 3 of MacGuires-sp? Wax.
The entire process only took about 20 minutes to get the bra off, and about 3 hours to shine up the hood. Can't even tell it was there....I also did the same thing on the Allroad. I hate clear bras...hate the line going across the hood more than I hate chips.
