How do you remove the chrome gas cap cover?

What's the secret? I don't want to paint mine, so I need to remove it so I can wrap it in vinyl.

There is a tab that you need to release, then the gas cap will twist off.

when opened its in the 12 o'clock position. almost at the top on the inside. take a small flat head screw driver and press the tab. turn clockwise and it comes right off.

(i think)
