Removal of "Cooper" from trunk
So when my MC arrives I'd like to get rid of the letters on the right side that say "cooper" to get a clean look. Has anyone does this? How hard is it and do you think any paint will come off like my MA says could happen? I asked that it be removed prior to pickup and that request was denied citing that the paint could chip off.....I guess it kinda could....thoughts? TIA
Easy peasy! You can probably just pry them right off, but use a hair dryer to make the job a little easier.
I always use a rubber spatula to get the corner started. After you have the letters removed, there will be some glue and residue from the 2-sided tape. Use goo-Gone or WD40 to get that off.
Enjoy!

yeah lol.... I'm not used to the lingo yet.... BOOT it is!?
Did my Cooper S within the first couple weeks I owned the car. I used dental floss, doubled, tripled. Broke a couple times but didn't scratch the finish at all. I used a heat gun to warm up the double stick adhesive. The letters ended up coming off and leaving all the adhesive on the car. It rolled right off the hatch with just my fingers, no adhesive remover, goo gone, etc. needed.

Use dental floss and it'll come right off. I've done mine twice now for stripes. Takes 2 minutes, and the adhesive peels right off by hand. The paint is NOT going to come off, good gravy...
Dental floss (minty!), two small pieces of wood (so the floss could cut into the wood and not into my fingers) and about five minutes.
Started with just the "Cooper," but after looking at it, the "S" bought the farm as well. Momentarily thought about doing the "R56 S" thing, but nah, clean it all off. The remaining adhesive-backed foam didn't take long to remove (fingernails) and cleaned up with Stoner's Invisible Glass as I did the windows.
Much nicer!

I love this! I've seen this picture on another thread i think... Where did you get those emblems??
Does anyone know if I can paint the emblems? Or would it just look cheap? Pics if you've done this...?

I dont currently own a Mini Cooper yet, but have been lurking around this board for quite a while using the search button ALOT!
As for removal of badges, I always take my badges off my car, and I do use dental floss, but to get the sticky sticky off, guess what I use.......................... Peanut Butter.
Yup you heard me! It works VERY well and if you dont have Goo Gone on hand, just open up your cupboard and take out the jiffy! (please dont use chunky!)

^as said, its very easy.
dental floss to pop off the letters, then you can get the residual tape off with your fingers (don't clip your nails just before you do it !), then Goo-Gone to clean up (about $3 at any auto store).
finally put some wax where the letters were to protect the finish.
truthfully, it's nice and easy. I am NOT mechanically inclinded, and it took me 20 minutes and only one beer.
