Aero Kit Rear Bumper Grill Alternatives

I am looking for an alternative to the cheap stickers for the rear bumber inserts that came with the aero kit. I have seen the carbon fiber looking stickers and the AC vinyl as well- these are not what I have in mind. I am looking for an actual grill similar to the M7 part (M7 Ultimate Rear Grilles- I do not think these fit the aero kit). Any ideas would be appreciated.

I like melissa's:

She made them herself, sheet metal cut to fit and then stuck on with 3M tape

I was at Minicorsa today and was test fitting a rear under spoiler diffuser on Danny's MCS. As you can see, he cut the grills and put in a mesh screen on his aero bumper. It looked pretty good as you can see from here.

The green spoiler has NOT been painted yet--we were just testing how it fit.

I have the same idea.. I want to take aluminum, polish it really well, and then use the engine turning design on it. Eastwood has a 1 inch and 1/2 inch kit. Seems after some practice and some patients it would look good. Then spray it with a clearcoat to keep it nice looking. But ya.. Anything is better than the stickers..

Oh it's easy! Just take a day off work, and make an appointment with Danny! LOL. I got my oil changed, new spark plugs (doing both about every 2 months now), and had a short shift kit installed that I had sitting on my MINI mod shelf for the past year.

I know I'm getting off topic, but why change your plugs every two months?

It's an issue with my particular car that hopefully will be fixed one day. I'm replacing them about once every 8,000 to 10,000 miles otherwise I have stuttering/ignition issues and misfires under load. With the recent heat wave and my AC on full blast, it was especially severe after about 6,000 miles of driving, so I replaced them, and all is well again. The year before I realized this temporary fix, I suffered for about 6 months of all sorts of issues that I thought were related to the supercharger and bypass valve--at WOT, the supercharger would build up, then chop off, then build up, then chop off, instead of one continuous buildup with the pedal to the metal. Originally thinking it was detonation, I tried 104 Octane fuel which helped quite a bit, but didn't solve it completely. Eventually I found that changing the plugs did-using NGK Iridium 7's or 8's (tried both).

Tail?? Are you talking about his huge spoiler on his roof, or the green under spoiler we're putting down below?? For the roof spoiler, PM danny at MINICORSA. For the under spoiler, I've got those.

oooh haha, well yeah PM Danny still. lol. They were blacked out--I think he had film, but not sure. I'm pretty sure they were just the stock '02-'04 lights.

I made these for a guy's aero grille:

They're made of this perforated, 1/8" stainless steel - VERY beefy.

I wish I had installed photos for you, but I don't - he says they fit and look great, but he's never sent me photos. I have enough material to make another set, so drop me a PM if ypu're really interested and are willing to make me a template from your cut-outs (when you MOD the areo bumper).

ImagoX, don't make me chastise you for not using the search function

Here ya go:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ghlight=imagox

I do think he should've cut out the plastic (or better yet just paint it flat black so he wouldn't have to deal with the silver heat shield showing through).

I talked to Peter of m7 about the possibility of getting the Ultimate Grills made for the rear MINI Aero Kit to replace those cheesey decals. He said he did not think there was enough demand, but if at least 20 people showed interest, they might consider getting that done.

So I found these on the Internet - http://www.racemeshgrilles.com/orders.htm#Mini
and ordered a pair in black powder coat. They have not arrived yet, we shall see......

Yeah that's pretty insane, but it's gorgeous and the way I'd do it too.

RKW did you paint it black? And did that black MINI cut out the plastics to put in the black metal holes?
