roll cage

looking to build a cage for both my mini and another car. im looking for suggestions on the thickness or the tubing and where to get a well priced tubing bender. thanks

Here's a place to go if you don't want to make your own. But, if you are (and you seem like you are) set on making your own, it depends on what your doing. If it's for looks, just go with cold rolled steel or something similar. Chromoly is not needed in a basic application. If it's needed for a specific class with a specific requirement, it depends on what they call for.

I was going to make one out of cardboard tubes. After painting, to everyone outside it will look like I have a cage, but I won't have the added weight or the negligible handling improvements. The tubes might even crush to help absorb impact.

At any rate, if I can ever afford it, I'll have some sort of welded cage put in. By that point, my car will have aged enough that adding rigidity will be required.

Also, talk to COR BLMY and CRRIKEY...they have made many skeletons and cages in the past and can help alot..CRRIKEY just posted one for the Mini a week or so ago...it is here somewhere near the front...

Saw COR BLMY's cage install at AMVIV, and it was top shelf.
