rear bumper protection strip

My rear bumper has sustained quite a bit of dings since I street park in the city. I'm tired of touching up the black marks and the dents from license plate screws. I finally gave in and got this clear bumper strip from amazon. I thought it was the best aesthetic compromise, not too crazy looking, and I'm too lazy to use something like the Bumper Badger.

That actually looks sort of cool, in an Apple iMac kind of way.

Bumper Badger? Is that anything like a Trunk Monkey?

In Manhattan, I see lots of fancy street parked cars with these ugly but effective Bumper Badgers, basically a black rubber floor mat draped over the rear bumper. Someone's making a profit. Here's a link to the item at Amazon. Now, a Trunk Monkey would be cooler.

I'm thinking about putting this on my rear bumper simply because I like the look, especially in combination with the "pull to inflate" decal. Guess you just brought up an added advantage of it.
Could put one on the front as well if you don't have a front license plate.

very cool indeed! I was going to add vinyl to my front tow hoop to read "wind clockwise" with an arrow turning right, till I saw your pull to inflate. Sorry but I had to add that to my front. Hope you don't mind. im in AZ so our cars will never be seen together!

Be careful with the tow hooks and bumping into things. I have had a tow person and a MINI adviser tell me that it is possible for it to be pushed back and effectively mess up the bumper support bars. I run a front one, but I don't park in cramped places like NYC. Just my 2¢.

Now what if you ran two spikes instead of that rub strip? That way if you got hit you would impale the other car. It's a good way to teach people a lesson for hit and runs like that.

If they noticed, they would probably be so angry they would key your car, or do other damage.

If you hit a pedestrian with it, I think you might be in serious trouble (as would the pedestrian.

I also wonder about legality of it? I could see you becoming liable for damage to a car that bumped into you while parking.
