Interior/Exterior Joey mod R56!
First off I want to say thank you to all the pioneers who have posted on this thread - without your awesome directions I would not have been able to complete this.
For anyone doing the halogens just follow anderezd amazing how-to.
Ok I figured today was a good day to put up or shut up since I've been talking about doing this for almost a year. Wasn't hard at all - toughest part was cleaning the reflectors after pulling the tape up - I kept seeing streaks depending on which side I viewed the reflector from - I had a little black spray paint on the reflector but it came off with a little windex and elbow grease.
anyway here a few shots - not easy to photograph but it's as good as it's going to get. Now that it's dark out I can go outside and see how many smudges I really have

I would also I like to sya thank you to everyone who has put up advice on doing this mod. It's one of the best mods I have done so far. And anderezd has an amazing how-to on this mod that came in very handy. Last night driving I noticed there is a decrease in light output so today I went to Pepboys and gt a set of Silverstar lights. 40 bucks and the light out put says it's more than factory. I won't know till later on tonight when it's dark out and I can actually see the differance. I added some pictures below and yes this is a tough thing to take a good picture of.
So Will - there I am driving on the Saw Mill (north) today ~1:30 and who is coming south right at me in a blacked out MCS w/ 4 driving lights and a NJ plate......
too bad I wasn't in my MC but I had to do some street parking in Yonkers and I don't take my baby down there!

What a great cheap mod! I did mine a little different as far as directions go. I used a scotch brite pad to take all the chrome off even the projector housing it botls to . Also the turn indicator housing was stripped. I did the proper prep then laid down a couple coats of KRYLON FUSION satin black. It came out great. If you are still on the fence like I was jump! Its worth it.
Sorry for the dark Pic I just finished. I will snap a few during the day when I get back from the Mid-Ohio race this weekend.

That's the same problem I had, glad to hear I'm not the only one!
Thanks
Do you mind telling me what kind of rims are those? And where can i buy them xD
Ok so im a bit stuck....
I want to know if it is possible to use a heat gun and take the lens off the housing. Without taking it off the car? I got the xenon headlights. Is it possible?
Also my car came with the power wash for the lights and I cant figure how to even use them? Can anyone help me on the part -_- =]

^U could probably use a heat gun to take the lense off without taking the light unit itself off, but it would probably be just as much work, if not more agrivating. Only 4-5 bolts hold the light to the car.
But i think I read somewhere that i had to remover the power wash cap and in order to do that you have to take the whole housing off?
OK guys. Question time.
I know someone who has done the joey mod to his R56 and he has offered to do mine for me too.
However, I do not want to suffer from the dreaded paint bubble issue. Would it be worth getting him to split the lights for me and then getting the projector ring / light internals sent away to be professionally sprayed in and laquered in a matt black to the same standard as a cars paint work?
Or, is their a heat resistant paint which I can buy off the shelf and then provide him with for the DIY route?
Many thanks!

The krylon high temp paint worked fine for me. Did my Joey mod about 10 months or so and I have minimal cracking and not noticeable enough to have to redo it. Awesome mod you are going to love it.
so far had my clubman less than 3 weeks & i am addicted to blacking out all the chrome pieces. found tons of useful info on this thread. just started my joey mod today and a little confused as what is allowed to go in the oven..? i have the xenons...but im supposed to remove the xenon light..? how do i remove that?..i already got the signal light bulb out...maybe i'll go with the heat gun route...can anyone explain how to remove the xenon from the headlight casing?
