alligning stripes with drivinglights (R56)

Looking at member gallery photos of minis with driving lights and stripes i noticed that they are not perfectly aligned! Is there a way to make these match other than rearranging the placing of the stripes? Can the driving lights be shifted left to be placed exactly where the stripes end?

I read on a different forum that it would block the 'air' too much but I'm not sure.

Also, I don't think it would look good. Leave it as they are, they look great.

This is one of the things thats bothered me about the R56--so much so that if/when I get the R56, I'm going to pass on the driving lights. I have to admit, functionally the driving lights add virtually nothing to the highbeams anyway; they're more for looks.

It looks so much better to have the lights right in front of the stripes; it looks too busy with the lights not lined up with the stripes. It looks great on the R53, but looks awkward on the R56. Just look at it as an excuse to save money...

I had the stripes aligned to my driving lamps. See pics in my gallery.

Very nicely done. I take it back, maybe I will get driving lights if I swap my R53 for an R56...

I wonder why the dealers don't place them like that in the first place--it looks so much better.

Wow they are looking great but, how did you manage this? Can it be done easily? I ask cause i was told that the dr lights onthe R56 cannot be shifted cause there only one place that they canbe fitted with the installation kit provided! Apparently you did something different, but what?

Anyone have an answer for this?

I'm a little bit of a nut for things lining up, and really want my DL's to line up with my stripes.

Did they move the stripes, or lights?

funny there is a discussion on stripe alignment as I ran into this with the Clubman sportstripes (up the middle). I moved the lights but judging by the pictures of the pepper white- they moved the stripes.

Moving the stripes is easier

Thanks. Doesn't that block your airflow to the radiator? Are you monitoring water temps?

no issues to date. I suspect if there was any issue to be concerned about it would have reared its head on the four light combinations that have been around for years with no issues. i.e. pic

So the only answer is to move my bonnet stripes? Does anyone know if one of the three grille types (standard mcs mesh, cooper chrome, or jcw stretch mesh) would allow the rally lights to be aligned to the stripes without having to move the stripes?

Thanks!

The grills are not the problem- it is the fact that the factory mounting pieces (and the aftermarkets versions I have seen) mount to specific parts of the metal body. This prevents them from being moved. I mounted my lights to the grill (in effect could be mounted anywhere) with my own $18 kit. No complaints yet .
