But to some extent...it is against NAM rules. Especially since they pointed to midnitecoop's thread as an advertisement tool in their vendor announcement.
I came to chose them as a vendor through a magazine not through NAM
Like I said I am not Being Bribed by them or work for them, I made the CHOICE to post my pics and appreciation for their new wing, Since come on...it is jus to darn slick! LOL

And across any marketing or advertising I have always seen reference to a customers feedback used as a "Testimonial"
If they chose to reference my thread so be it.
What is the harm in that.

The first part means that people are given free parts or discounts and then encouraged to start threads to show off and advertise the new product. (Company A gives bob a scoop and asks him to promote it as an advertising tool) The second part means that people were given discounts or products from one company in exchange for someone to bash one of the competitors. (Company A gives Bob a free scoop if he complains about Company B).

So does this mean no one can get a deal from a vendor for repeat business?

And then post here and say they liked the product or service
That's why i said "to some extent"....but check out this week's PU advertisment. They link to this thread as an advertisement/promotional tool.

There's a drop down menu on their site...you choose between fiber reinforced plastic or CF.

Does PU really have a link to the thread...
I checked it out the other day when I noticed their post saw none then and checked it now and still no direct link only mention of being written about by NAM members...

I guess i misspoke by saying 'link' now that i look at it....but they clearly point to it as a means of backing up their claims (though i don't see any actual tests in here)

See current thread posted by our nam members, not only does this Uber designed carbon fiber piece look awesome, but provides the needed downforce to keep your rear end on the ground, preventing drift and hop.
I know the "our" probably means nothing....but it's funny that they would say it that way since we're talking about it now

Gotcha, I think that would be a bad business practice. What you think about my post #121?

I'm assuming you mean based on increased drag we would experience lower MPG numbers? I'm gonna go ahead and say that you probably have absolutely nothing to worry about.

It's not like the Cooper has better MPG numbers cause it's spoiler is smaller than the MCS

That would be nice!
If that were the case we would all be rollin' in the dough.
And able to outfit our minis with everything we want...

Strabentech CF lip spoiler $599.99
CF fabrication isn't cheap, their wing really is a good deal.

I'm pretty sure the PU or the Strabentech are not all CF. It's a Cf weave on a core other wise there would be no flex at all. Not that this a bad thing thats not all CF through and through. The JCW dash is just a CF sheet on a plastic back. The M7 CF stuff is the same, a sheet of CF on a backer, fiberglass for the splitter and diverter. Just don't want folks thinking these are all CF parts. Very few on the market are, and you wallet will certainly know when it is all pure CF.

It is priced competitively and I will most likly get one, after Christmas though, unless I can talk the wife into getting it for my present . Any way sorry that one guy's have had a bad experiance with PU in the past, but hopefully with all that's happened, maybe they will get better .

Yikes is right! Still doesn't make PU's price reasonable, only in comparison to this absurdity.

BTW, I still use the PU CF Scoop. It is the one part I got from them that I can't complain about. Perhaps this wing extension is another good one, but having a few good parts and a bunch of crappy ones that they charge too much for and then drive you nuts over trying to get them to make good on is why people should generally avoid them.

...and no one is paying me or doing me favors to say this about them. PU earned my scorn all on their own.

No quibble with the analogies you made about getting favors for repeat business or getting discounts for buying in quantity, but like others before me who got scrwed over royally by PU, we have long memories and we don't neglect an opportunity to give them back in spades the grief they made for us. Personally, I would not mind seeing their company fold up and go broke.

Here is 1 of the 2 quotes from PU's current vendor ad for this wing that references this thread:

PHOTOS...available on our online store (page one) and in the NAM Thread.

So, if they are breaking the rules, why are the rules NOT being enforced?

I don't think they're breaking the rules enough to be enforced.

I agree - the rule you quoted seems to be referring to full-blown, no holds barred *shilling*, where a vendor tells a regular member "I will give you money or free parts if you will talk nice about our company/products".

I don't think there's any such formal arrangement going on here.
