Wiper Cowl Scoops

So I bought the ABS plastic cowl scoops for my MCS. They will arrive tomorrow. I know that the passenger side has no use for one, and Im wondering if you all think I should use both anyway, or just use the one... I think the one might look better if you know whats up under the Minis hood, but to everyone else I fear it might llok lopsided. Any thoughts?

it would be cooling the brake lines and such. Not all that bad. I'd go for symmetry and a little over kill myself.

so did you get the orciari cowl scoops? or the other bigger ones on mossmini?
i'd say put both on. it comes as a pair. so might as well put both on for a uniformed look.
i think it would look weird if you only had one.

Put one on, drive around a bit and look at it for a day or two. If you like it fine, if not add the other. Don't like with two, take one back off.

Problem solved. Your welcome (insert smiley of choice here)

i was looking in NewMINI magazine and there is actually one in an article that had the one scoop. Even owning a MINI myself, i looked at it and didn't know what the hell they were tryin to accomplish. I say put both on. just one looks ricer to me...reminds me of the UNI-Wiper mod a lot of ricers did back in the day.

the only way one would look good would be if u removed the other cowl and filled it in and painted to match car. whatever u do. post pictures. I want these, but not sure how big of a difference they are compared to the orciari

Go bare. No cowl scoops.

Don't expect that much difference. Appearance is usually good or at least different.

Installed Ociari scoop

You know what? F it... I like the look of one and maybe I'll go back and try to figure it out later. Thanks for the opinions guys. I think the wiper cowl scoop thread is about done. I cant really give you figures right now because its 20-30 degrees cooler today than it has been since i got my Scan Gauge. It does seem to get a little better airflow, but they didn't quite want to go in and install wasnt good for a snap-in part. Installed, it does look good though. So purchase cautiously if you think you want them.

Does anyone know if these are any more prone to hydrolock when used with a CAI?

I dont think it would make much difference. The scoops may catch more rain due to the forward motion that collects more air, but the top is shielded so it wouldnt pick up vertically falling rain. Plus, water is heavier than air so it should drop rather than getting pulled into the filter as the air does.

only if someone is pouring multiple buckets of water into the cowl Hydrolock is a problem for CAIs that are submerged....it's often a problem with cars like the VW's whose CAIs are way down at the bottom of the car....not up top like the MINI
