Interior/Exterior aero grille install
aero grille install
so i bought an aero bonnett mesh grille the other day and i guess you must thread the old nuts on to the mesh grilles posts butttt they allll fell in my engine bay =/ anywho do you think they would charge or or know how much ball park i would be charged to get a tech at MINI of sterlin to install it really quick ?....my car is without a grille right now ( it does look cool though ) lol buttt i need this aero grille installed and im too nervous about doing it myself because i dont want to strip the posts and have to buy a new aero grille any help would be awesome ...or if anyone that has done this wanna install mine ?.....ill buy you some beer ? lol
yeah i called and some rude service guy said its 61 bucks for 30 mins of labor for this job that would take like 2 minutes and then rudely said the nuts that i need ( self tapping screws ) they dont know what kind you would need and have no way of looking that up ) and then transfered me to another rude parts guy who said he had no idea what these screws were and he thinks he has an idea but isnt sure what i would need ...ughhhh ...man im not happy with MINI of STERLING anyone know the size or exact name of what i would need to secure these on myself home depot probally has these right ?
I would head off to a store with a nice hardware section, yes home depot is a pretty good bet, and just buy some regular self tapping nuts. Just bring the grill in the store to try them out. The size will be quite a bit smaller than the posts, so that it will have enough material to create the threads.
just goto home depot and pick up about 10 regular nuts, whatever size will begin to thread onto the inner posts with little force, the two outer ones are slightly larger but i didnt even fasten them.
The trick is to fill the socket with 1 or 2 so the one on top can start to thread itself.

Good luck with the install. It's definitely worth it to do it yourself.
