I ordered my set about three weeks ago and just found an email that they had shipped. So I checked the tracking number and.........they're at my front door waiting for me!

They really do make alot of difference. I love mine.

 

Same here ! You will love them. Plan on removing the seats from the car to aid in the install. It took me about an hour and a half total time for both seats.

 

Well, I must admit....it was a cinch to install the fronts, but the rains precluded getting the rear finished. This weekend I can expect some sun and clear skys. I didn't pull the seats or any trim because I've learned a few upholstery tricks from a pro as I was growing up.

I went very conservative on color. I didn't want to over-do the amount of colors inside the vehicle. It's pretty busy-looking already and I've got plenty of Chili Red on the body work. So I considered black half piped with light gray center panels. I tossed that around for a week or so and decided it was going be too much. I ultimately decided on all black, full-piped in gray/gray logo.

The fronts went on without any issues; the fit could have been better but according to Wet Okole, the templates for the R56 are the same as R53 2002-2006. None-the-less, they formed up pretty well when I worked them in. I'm probably just splitting hairs because my dad was a custom auto upholsterer his entire life and I tend to be as OCD about this stuff as he was.



Overall, I love the product. They're made quite well, I'm pleased with the quality and they delivered in less than three weeks. The seat-of-the-pants feel is excellent.

 

I have them in my MCS and my truck (they wash right off after four wheeling--the truck that is), and swear by them...btw, now it's: "w/nothin' but Wet Okoles" Congrats, again!

 

nice, those look great. Almost looks like the black lounge leather from the pics. I may get some of those with white piping for my mine when it gets here. Depends on how I like the leatherette. I'm not sure I'm going to like the gray part since it doesn't seem to match anything else in there...


EDIT: I forgot to ask, did they put 'Cooper S' on there or did you have to ask for it?

 

i didn't know they offered the cooper s logo. was this standard or a custom (extra charge)?

 

It is a custom emblem.

 

+1 Warm in winter and cool in summer. Can't beat 'em.

I wonder if you have heated seats will the heat come though the cover ?

Guess it depends on the thickness. Anyone have these with heated seats and if so does the heat still work ?

 

The Cabrio crowd is a popular customer base for the Wet Okokes, and the heated seats. There should be a rag-topper out there who has a credible opinion based on personal experience.

Cabrio owner with Wet Okoles here. Yes, the heat comes through the covers well. It takes a just little longer before you feel it, but not much. (Hope that qualifies as a credible opinion. )

It took me a long time to decide to get these, and I LOVE them. I didn't remove the seats for installation and it took less than 45 minutes to install the front seat covers. I had to hurry, it was d*** cold the day they arrived and I couldn't wait to get them installed.

I don't have the rear seat covers---yet. These are worth every penny IMO. One of my friends liked mine so much he bought a set for his Magnum.

Does anyone know how well the Okoles will hold up to bulldog claws?

 

I can testify that the Okoles don't like dog toe-nails. It's just wet-suit material and even though it's pretty durable stuff (i've abused my wetsuits on coral formations more than a few times), persistent entrance/exit launches by over-exuberant canines (large or small) leads to guaranteed premature wear. I keep the dog out of the Mini now.

So to catch-up on my thread - I've put 12 thousand miles on the car since the covers were installed and at this point I can add some value to the thread:

The seat heaters worked perfectly over this past winter, I never needed more than the 2nd setting on the coldest morning and the temperature only took slightly longer to sense than without the covers.

The product is wearing quite well and other than the dog-claw wear on the passenger side, I suspect I'll get many years of normal wear from them. They clean up beautifully and haven't shown any fade since they were installed. The car is outdoors full time and I use the Wet Okole UV protector once a month.

I've done two cleanings on the covers since they were installed and on both occasions the color was fully restored during the cleaning process. Wet Okole is using good-quality raw material (looks like 3mm material), so the price of the product is fully justified IMO. You get what you pay for.

The "Cooper S" logo is wearing well and shows no sign of flaking, brittling or drying; a problem I've had with some previous wetsuits I've owned. I suspect those issues are related more to salt water exposure than anything else.

So to wrap-up: It's a well made, quality product with a more than reasonable price-point considering the level of craftsmanship and quality of raw-goods being used. Maintenance is key - they need to be dressed for UV exposure and cleaned with wet-suit cleaner/conditioner periodically if you want them to last. Wet-Okole says this repeatedly in the provided paperwork when you purchase and the advice should be respected - they know their product pretty well. A good addition to any interior worth protecting.

 

I had Wet Okole's on my 2003 Rav4 for 3 years. Got them as soon as I got my Rav4 brand new. It was parked outside all the time in the sun, but I had the factory tint in the rears and was always religiously using the winshield sunshade. Driveway is faced towards the sun so direct sunlight never really went into the passenger or driver's side windows. Never used the UV protectant but the Wet Okole's still held up really well. I couldn't really see any significant wear on any of the seats and all I did was the weekly vacuuming. No pets though. Got them on my Mini now as well but still lazy to install the rears.

 

I have a brand new, unused front set for an R56 which I don't need because I don't have the car anymore. They are [plain black and in the box. If anyone is interested, pm me.

 

You should put an ad up in the for-sale forum. I think they'd move pretty quick.

 

What about the color? Mini's are very dark grey, so I wasn't sure whether to go with the Black or Charcoal. The picture looks pretty close. Has anyone tried the Charcoal? Do you constantly have to re-tuck after sitting? I have a 2003 Red Cooper and buying seat covers is necessary because my drivers seat is crumbling away, something I've never found anyone else to have. I have called Mini and because I'm out of warranty they won't help. It has to be some kind of defect.
