Courtesy of someone over at MINI2 (smg?)...

Carbon Fiber bonnet = 19lb. Stock bonnet = 35lb.

I love the way it looks!

Just get the Bonnet, then you'll have space for the bolt on Mini Cooper Turbo, and you wont even have to re position the intercooler! think of the show potential not to mention the performance potential

I think it is going to look something like this...

You could paint the sides to make it look like this...

Thanks for the great spy picture of the carbon fiber MCS bonnet- Looks great.
Might be complemented by carbon fiber hood scoop, mirror covers, wheel flares, aero grilles, roof, and interior dash/panels.

I have a momo carbon fiber chrome shifter in my MCS

Do you all really like the look of the CF hood? It looks like a junkyard job (not like old Mach 1s or Integra Type Rs). The fact that the bonnet goes all the way to the wheel arches takes away from the tuner bonnet look, don't you think?

If you can't match the color with the rest of the car, I hate this look.

IQQIMINI-
Are you serious?!? You can't that techy look of Carbon Fiber. From what it looks like this is ony a prototype. You can always paint the fenders for that "tuner" look if you wanted to. To me this is one of the best products to hit the MINI aftermarket....or soon to hit.

So, can you paint it or not? I agree that this would look like crap, as is, if you put it on most (if not all) colors of Coopers.

I agree with you IQQIMINI

The black hood look is awesome on a muscle car (square lines) not todays rounded cars. You are spending big bucks to save 16lbs. I would spend my money else where.

Just my 2 cents

Carbon fibre belongs on a race car, not a street car.

CooperSpeed,

While I have a hard time with the CF look altogether (just me getting old), what I don't like is that the bonnet of the MINI wraps down to the arches.

Consider this:

MINI makes a big deal of the way the taillights and headlights are cut into the bodywork and not conveniently bordered by the body seams at the boot or bonnet the way most auto companies design them. This is a design concept that says 'we will put design cues where we want, and not where we can conveniently fit them'. When you replace an entire body panel (bonnet), you are changing or adding a design cue. THIS design cue would be bordered by the body panel seams at the windshield, front bumper, and wheel arches - negating the aforementioned design concept.

Granted, the weight saved is important, and to each his own. Perhaps I was too 'matter of fact' about my comment, but my opinion remains that I don't like the CF hood. I also agree that for the money (whatever it must be), you could do much better unless your only choices are the hood, stainless brake lines, and Magnecors.

Well, I for one like it but would not put it on my car. I think it will look killer on a black or Dark Silver MCS though. I maight consider it if they made them in Red to match my paint. Can't wait to see it installed. You didn't mention the manufacturer, can you tell us who? I ordered a CF Air Intake scoop from Daimond Racing and thay said they had completed a hood and a rear deck lid as well!

hi guys, never thought my spy photos of the CF bonnet will get so much of your attention.

the bonnet on the photos are prototype only......i'll put them on my car and take a few pics to show everyone how it looks and i'll also paint one dark silver to see if it'll look good. (paint quality)

i don't have a price yet but i hope it won't cost too much.....my previous car was a Skyline GTR and the CF hood will cost as much as U3,000us......and this is a cooper so it shud be way less......

anyway, i'll post more updates soon.
stay tuned.....

I hope that the paint works out, I'd get it of the price is reasonable, and you can paint it
