I have had my guage overlays for almost 3 years now. Here ar some tricks I learned.
1. Make a small slit close to the needle and you can avoid taking the needle off. On the speedo, make it from the cutout for the radio controls to the hole for the needle. it is only about 1/4 inch.
2. Make a samll slit and slide it over the needle
3. Use double sided tape to give it a firm fit to the guage surface.
4. I had issues with the glossy platic on the numbers and hashes in the sun. I sprayed a clear matte finish on them and it eliminated the glare.
5. I also had trouble seeing the actual numbers because my guages are black. I went to a theater supply house and bought a lighting gel [makes stage lights different colors] and applied it to the back over the printed hash marks and numbers. The nice part is that you can make your numbers any color you choose. Mine are yellow and show up well against the black faces. The also do not interfere with the orange backlighting at night. To make themstand out, I also added a piece of white tissue paper to behind the gel to make the yellow stand out a little more.
The only problem I had was etting the speedo bezel back on. I have a little gab and cannot figurre out how to get the top tabs back into position. If anyone knows the anser to that I wold appreciate the advise.

Thanks. When my MINI was totalled, my wife had just lost her job and they were inbetween 2011 to 2012 model switch-over. I wanted to get a factory JCW but I would have to wait until November '11 to get it which was not feasible. I decided to buy an interim car until the 2012 Raodster came out so I bought a high mileage 2007 Honda Accord Coupe. It was decent car and I got a good deal on it but after two monthsm, I just could not do an Accord any more.
As a gift from my wife, and a way to help me deal with having to go on Dialysis, my wife suggested I get something that I really like instead of the Accord. I couldn't afford a new MINI [she is still out of work as of now] and I could not find a MINI that had all the packages I wanted, I decided on a low mileage 2004 Chrysler Crossfire Coupe. It is a car I have always like and it is based on a last generation Mercedes SLK. Not as much fun as a MINI but a pretty cool looking car and fairly unique. I've only see one on the raod since I bought it September and I have a real long commute. We are not completely MINI-less. My wife bought a Countryman and took delivery on it 5 days before mine was totaled. As a side note, for any one who may question the safety of a MINI, I rolled mine twice going around sixty when the lady hit me and I basically walked away from it. All the doors still functioned and the car saved my life. I think I wuld have seriously injured in most other cars.
Anyway, this will be my commuter car and the Roadster I plan to get in 2013 will be my mid-life crisis toy and garage queen. Never coming out in the rain or snow.
If you are interested, I can post a few pictures of what the guages looked like in my MINI with the gels behine the numbers.

So the price includes all of the gauge faces needed? In the past, on other vehicles, changing out gauges psuper difficult. I agree with other members, an install time/guide for the dinner plate gauge in the middle along with a lit up picture would be very helpful.
You do great work! I am very impressed and very very interested.

Colored gauges
You want it! You got it!
R53 Speedo
Shown in Gloss black w/ chili red border
And yes....we can make the center of the zero's red
or whichever color you'd like!
We'll also be eliminating the km/h business, so you can rock em custom. More room for your logo/design
dsg - we need a template for the EU gauges. If you would like to send us your gauges for a template, we will send you a set for free. The price will likely be the same, but S&H will apply.
