As a lover of sharp handling road manners, I installed a new Getrag 6 spd with the factory gkn lsd in my ‘04 R50. Some(not all)additional parts: single mass flywheel/disk//pressure plate for R53, starter motor, shift cables, slave cylinder, electrics connector. The improvement in the driving experience, particularly in the tight twisties is stunning. The gkn lsd is cone-clutch type and snaps me through surefootedly. The gearbox ratios are for the ‘06 R53 and although 1st is a bit tall, the close ratios mean you otherwise will always be able use the r50’s upper rev powerband. Mine also has Factory SS+, Koni FSD shocks, -2deg fixed front camber plates, Alta adjustable19mm rear swaybar set softest, Wilwood front big brake kit(no holes or slots) EBC blue stuff pads, poly bushings all around rolling on Bridgestone 205/55-16” S04 Pole position shod Enkei RPF-1’s. It is a combination that will give you a nosebleed in the corners and a genuine driving addiction.
